Sad that this has had to be implemented in New Zealand.

Safe for the driver but what about passengers?

The first installation of Bus Driver Assault barriers was in West Norwood in London in 2008 with over 400 Acrylic Assault Screens installed over one weekend, and yet some 16 years later Auckland Transport itself finally decides it's time to protect the stressed out Bus staff from aggravated passengers assaulting the Drivers
@brentsummers737719 сағат бұрын
Exactly! In San Francisco and the wider Bay Area the bus companies had those screens installed years ago.

It started with the banks, some stores now have jail bars.

What I’m curious about now is how to deal with passengers who hop on without paying. It’s common to see the same old excuse of “oh sorry my card isn’t working, can I hop on?” or just running in without care. What, is the bus driver going to tell them they can’t go on? Like those people would listen.

much rather fare evaders than bus drivers working in unsafe conditions

I don't think immigrants were the ones making assaults in public transport? Get a grip man.

Unfortunately dairy's need safety screens now.
@spring80200716 сағат бұрын
Not just safety screens but some self protection gear as well :) As lot many dairy shop owners are immigrants who have also to support families back home :( Their families rely on them !!

yea there really is nothing good to say about the safety screens. it is extremely disappointing that they needed to be installed.
@smoked964017 сағат бұрын
Instead of putting these screens up, how about tackling crime itself instead of work arounds? Be harsher on crime and dumbasses would stop assaulting people.

Anarchotyranny doesn't address crime, it needs crime to distract the public.

While I think this is a good move, those in power also need to address the undying cause.

amazingly bad design. A perpetrator can simply reach in and open the door
