I had this and another Kaiser CD with beefheart and dead covers on it I forget the name of that I loved and lost in a move. Just randomly thought to look for them on YT like 20 years later. thanks for putting this up.

So amazing that many have only recently heard of/heard about Phil Ochs. When we 'all' learned to play guitar at summer camp in the late 60s/early 70s, one of the main teaching pieces was "Changes". He was all over WBAI, etc., and came more into public view as the 70s progressed. Scott Muni and Pete Fornetale played him on WNEW-FM in New York back then. Rest In Peace.

Not exactly McLaughlin or Holdsworth. More like Garcia. It's ok I guess. Somewhat diatonic. Thankful he is not using his typical effects. I can actually listen to this.

it's funny...nothing Dylan did after he was thirty came anywhere near what he did before that. He owes his enormous influence and reputation, his Nobel prize, to those first 4 or 5 albums.

HI Stan, I think if you're going to cover a legend you need to be have the touch to connect and infuse as it were with what it's all about - and you and the band certainly do. I hope Dylan has heard this, I really think he would love it. I work as a volunteer with a charity radio station in the UK and would love to put it in a playlist - but would need a copyright clearance to do so. Maybe you would like to contact me to arrange a permission to play it? Kind regards, Tim.

As far as I am concerned you can play this but I don't have any expertise in copyright law, especially international law.

The timbre of your voice pleasantly evokes memories of Orson Welles and Anthony Bourdain. If you couldn't play the guitar so nicely you'd still be a pleasure to listen to. 8) Thanks for posting this one.

The concert is probably from 1966, not 1965. That's the year he wrote "Crucifixion" and he says at one point (apologizing for forgetting the lyrics) that "it's a new song."

I truly think that a percentage of Dylan just got to him. Given his mental difficulties in life it wouldn't be a surprise to me if he told a counselor somewhere he obsessed just a bit too much about this guy, and couldn't find a way to let it go. Dylan probably did that to more than a few folks during that time. Even today, folks seem to obsess about him. It's just one small part of all the things that probably bothered Phil to the extent he would consider exiting the world the way he did.
