Back in the 80s I was strung out on heroin. I found a doctor who ran a rehab facility. He provided an outpatient medical detox off heroin for $1000. I had to have someone with me around the clock for two weeks, drive me to my daily doctor's appointments, and administered my medication. The detox had only mild withdrawal symtoms. The doctor also put me on an opiate blocker called Trexan and an alcohol deterant called Antibuse. These medications played an important roll in my recovery. The doctor also recommended that I go to a sober living facility. I had a 9-5 job and a house rule was that we needed to be back for dinner at 6pm and eat as a group. We were required to attend three AA meetings a week. The cost was resonable for room and board with meals and in home AA meetings. I stayed for about 10 months. This was also key to my recovery. This recovery model was affordable and worked well for me. I am extremely grateful for the help I recieved.
