I have 3 MKC knives and several other super steel (s90v, S35vn etc). My across-the-street neighbor pulled out an old Appalachian trail bowie in 420 or whatever they use and gave it to me for free. I looked online and it's about a $30 knife :). It was SUPER dull. I put it on my stones and ceramic and had it POPPING hair in about 5 minutes haha. It was fun to actually be able to actually sharpen a knife that fast!

I have the Super Cub and the Blackfoot. Amazing knives. I have the Alpha Wolf that was mentioned as well and had the same experience with it not holding the edge well enough to gut an entire deer or elk.

@@sinepari9160 Most are D2. Not a super steel but for a production knife it's a good one. Boker makes several in D2 and theirs hold an edge much better. I agree the heat treat is the problem, and the design on the Alpha Wolf is terrific. If MKC made one similar, I'd buy it instantly.

I don't understand how people get ODORS off traps with paint and FMJ? When boiling traps in logwood it removes the old odors and coats them with a natural smelling dye
@hoghustlers2587
@hoghustlers2587 5 ай бұрын
The FMJ once cured is what removes all existing odors, it's literally odorless. No need for "natural smelling dye".

Our kits are very similar down to using one single rope. I got big into mobile hunting two years ago and had two long seasons trying a lot of different gear. Here are some tips on what I have done and have it dialed in pretty well. The LWCG doubles do stack better on the .5, however unless you stealth strip the entire stick they are super loud, even when I went slow. I also had the same TX5 saddle and never expanded it, so I got rid of it and got the DryAd harness (no hammock seat thing) and that thing does exactly what we want IMO. I ditched a bino harness for the same reason, I have been using the LWCG waist pack and it was awesome. Any decent fanny/waist pack would work well though. Kept it around my waist and I could slide it around to my back if I need it out of the way. I just have a long slick cord on my binos and wear them cross body and that worked well. Great video, I hope you had a great season.

Nice video. I run duke DP’s and it would take a lot to steer me otherwise. Your title baited me in here! LOL. As I am always looking for improvements and thought there might something better. I make my own anchor system for my DP’s. I take a piece of ¾” black pipe about 1” long and weld a half piece of chain link to it with the end of the duke chain around the chain link. Next, I take a ¾” concrete stake and weld a ½” inch long piece of ¾” pipe to the top of it. Now all I do is slip the pipe that is connected to the trap chain onto the stake and drive the stake into the ground. I provides nice swivel action to the stake chain and nothing is going to pull that stake out! I also only run MB650 cast jaws for my coyote sets. In my opinion I have found them to be the absolute best traps around bar none. I make my own stakes and driver for them also. The stakes are made from a ¾” pipe about 3-1/2” long again welding half a chain link in the middle after slipping the trap chain through the link.

Why would you wax a trap thats already been coated to prevent smell? All you shud need to do is give em a cleaning and throw em in the dirt
@huntready1435
@huntready1435 6 ай бұрын
Waxing and coating solve completely different issues we run into whole trapping. I don't wax for scent control, I wax to lubricate and increase the speed of the trap. You can surely set these or any trap honestly without Waxing or even without coatings if you so desire.
