When we submitted our petition the most recent tac return was 2022 so that’s what we uploaded on the ceac website. Now the most recent is 2023 and i’ll have my interview next month so I’m wondering if they also need 2023 tax return. Will appreciate your response. Thanks

You paid a little high for the construction of your home. Silly that they put on an "architectural feature" on their designs and plans then charge you an additional for it. But what can I say, corruption in the Philippines is everywhere.

Im a filam myself from houston that lived back and forth in the US and Phils and frankly bro, you got gypped. Whatever the "architectural feature" shows that's what they should build unless stated so in your contract that it specifically says that they are only building the structure and not the features you requested. The mere fact that you're a foreigner/white guy and you dealt with them...made your house cost more expensive than what it was supposed to be. Im embarassed as a filipino american at how some filipino contractors do that crap and it irks me that they wilk milk you dry or whatever they can just to make that extra buck. But I am glad your house did end up looking really nice!

I had to smile now. It’s everywhere the same. I did build 30 something years ago my house in Germany by myself. But my neighbors who hired construction companies complained about that too. For everyone who likes to hire a company, make absolutely sure that everything is written down and forget about the nice plans or pictures. It must be written down in the quote! Make sure that it is written down and signed from the company that this is the final price! In Canada I got a brand new house. This time, I was prepared. And yes. They came, saying this & that wasn’t agreed to build or finish. So I showed the contract and quote and pointed out: It’s in the contract and agreed to by you! And yes. Every time I talked to the sales manager or boss, my lot was beside the show homes, they cried. “We are losing money on your project…” Well. You know. They cry. And when that didn’t worked out, they figured out that they made another mistake. The company had 10 lots with a special price discount that they sold. I was the 1st buyer. So they showed me the plan and asked what lot I wanted. After a short look, I pointed out the lot beside the show homes. The sales manager didn’t figure it out right away. But I had to look at building & area plans when I did build my house in Germany. So if a lot looks bigger on a scaled plan 1:100 for example, that lot is bigger in the real world. Right? Anyway. When they started to measure in the house to start the construction for the basement, they just figured out that my lot was bigger. They actually had lots of 3,9xx to 4,3xx in mind. The one I got was 4,963 sqft. Now they asked me to move to a lot beside it. I refused. I just said: Put the development plan on the table please. So they did. “Did you ask me what lot I wanted out of the 10 lots?” Yes. “Okay. I pointed out the lot beside the show homes. Right?” Right you did, but … “No but. The lot number is in my contract, signed by myself and 3 people of the company!” Well. They cried every time they saw me. 😂 But that wasn’t all. I must say, they are in business for decades and a big construction company. They should know better. My girlfriend did go one time alone to their design office. I told my girlfriend not to get any “upgrades”. I couldn’t go. I had to go to work. Coming home, my girlfriend got some upgrades, like jacuzzi corner bathtub. Couple thousand dollars! I got mad. “From now on I go!” I like to stay in my budgets. When we got our keys and the final walk through of our new house, the manager signed off the release documents and gave us a binder with necessary information about warranties and phone numbers. Then he looked at me and gave me a check from the company saying: “I am 32 years in this company. We never had to give money back. But you stayed under the agreed sales price. I have never seen that in my life…” I was a little confused about that! He left. And I still couldn’t figure out why we got around $8,700 back. Anyway. The company moved out after another 12 months when they sold all lots. 2 years later, I met the sales manager in a coffee shop. He waved me to get to his table. He was retired now. We had some small talk and I said: “You know what? I still couldn’t figure out why I got money back. I still don’t.” He started to laugh out loud. “You know. Our company made a lot of mistakes with your house. The too low quote what we put into the contract. The mistake with the lot. And the cheque.” I just said: “What was it with the money I got back?” - “The accountant put accidentally the upgrade amount into the already paid section of the software. And they never charged you for the upgrades. They PAID YOU TO BUILD IT IN!” He said: “You had to see the face of my boss when we had to tell him. My boss got green & yellow at the same time.” Then he explained to me that the company was not long ago sold to a really big development company who was looking for a professional construction company. The offer was too good to reject it. Long story short. It can go the other way around too. - Now in Panama, I’m retired and building myself again a house. Around 156m2. Yes. I did go around looking how much they asking and it was absolutely too much. When I am done with my house next year, it will cost me around $30,000. It’s on budget. I don’t expect any return cheques this time either. 😂

I went back to Northern California in July I landed. I went to my house. I went to pick up a round table pizza and it was $38 granted it was a large but certainly wasn’t large compared to SNR. I agree they’re out of hand in your $400,000 houseis at least a 1.2 to $1.5 million house if not more in California OMG

Congrats on selling and on the baby! I'm 67 and have 12 old twins, B&G. I have 2 older kids, in their 40's and 2 stepsons. Both joined the AF, 1 is still in and stationed in Okinawa now, married to a girl from Peru who is also in the AF. The other moved to the PI after he got out. We sold our 5 bedroom, 3000 sqf home in Cumming, GA in Nov, 2020. We built it in 2012, paid $229k, sold for $372k 8 years later, now it's valued at $632k...crazy price increase. I wouldn't want to be buying a house now at the current interest rates! I did that back in the Carter years when interest rates were in the upper teens. Bought a 3 BR split entry, brand new for $59.9k in Papillion when I was stationed at Offutt. We moved to the PI in June 2021, Lipa, Batangas. We now live in a beautiful golf community, pools, country club, no roosters or dogs barking, 5 BR, 3700 sqf measured the American way (4700 sqf the Filipino way), definitely not something I could have afforded in the US. My wife says living her is like living in the US until you get to the gate, then you're in the Philippines. Enjoy life!

Former resident of Abilene, Tx here. Retired out of Dyess AFB in 2019. Sold my house, vehicles, major appliances, lawn equipment, and had TMO store my HHGs in storage for 1 year. Relocated to the Phils that same year during retirement terminal leave. Started the construction of my house in Porac, Pampanga and shortly after, the flu virus hit. Due to the pandemic, my house took 11 months to complete. Shortly after, my HHGs container arrived. At times, I do miss the US of A. Especially during the Holidays. However, visited the States 2x since relocating to the Phils. Every time I return back to the Phils, I surely do not miss the inflation prices back in the States. Glad to see you guys are getting settled. Looking forward to following your life journey vlogs.
