That is like asking me to pick a favorite child😂 but I would say that Sweet Mademoiselle, Summer Romance, Courage, and Princess Charlene de Monaco are my top favorites. All are highly disease resistant, stay nice and green all year round, and have very large fragrant blooms! ❤

I know this is Palatine’s last season for roses. If you could recommend a few that you have purchased from them that have great disease resistance and amazing scent I would appreciate it. I know they sell roses I can get elsewhere so maybe something I can only get there?

When do you first cut your roses back? Is it March or February for Georgia?

Beautiful as usual! I am making my list for my order at Palatine! I remember you saying that Pomponella can be up against a wall or fence- because it gets tall, yet it says on their website it gets only 4 ft tall, would you say that it will get taller than 4 ft in your experience? Thanks so much, always enjoy watching your garden grow! Also, did you see the "NEW, or "BACK" roses at Palatine!!! So excited!!
@summermoongarden13 күн бұрын
Oh I haven’t seen the new roses from Palatine yet! I will go look. Pomponella DEFINITELY gets much larger than 4 ft tall for me! It acts almost like a rambler here in the south! Mine get huge.

Thank you! It is my dream home and I’m so grateful to be here. We have white oak, red oak, tulip poplar, beech, hickory trees, and a few others I haven’t taken the time to identify yet. I’ve planted lots of Japanese maples in our garden, and an October glory maple too. The trees are why we moved here. Most builders of homes and neighborhoods here in Georgia completely bulldoze all the trees down before building, so to have old growth trees on our property is very special.

Fellow GA gardener here. I have 5 year old Green Tower boxwoods bought as 5Gs from Pikes: they are currently 2.5' wide and 7' tall. They are naturally fastigiate, so they take minimal pruning to stay narrow and mostly I am pruning to control height. Maybe an option to flank your new front porch steps if you like boxwoods?

You can pull those stumps out with a riding lawnmower and a strap, or a vehicle if the mower doesn’t work. We’ve pulled much bigger ones out than that.

OMG @31:00 I heard you say 80% of your DA roses die. That’s terrible. I too have spent a lot of money on them and this is my year 1 I’m so worried now that I too might lose them. Did the die because of the heat? Which zone are you in? I love your garden it’s very beautiful
@summermoongardenАй бұрын
I’m honestly not sure why they die! I can’t figure it out, but they just aren’t super healthy roses for me. They probably prefer the milder climates closer to the UK. We are very hot and humid and I used to be a zone 7 but now USDA changed us to zone 8. Kordes and Meilland perform 100x better for me.
@annann-fn2ziАй бұрын
@@summermoongarden oh no.. so sorry. I can relate to how disappointing that can be. I wish I had watched your video before spending so much on DA roses. I’m going to keep my fingers crossed. I’m so glad yall are safe!! Thank you for commenting and letting me know. I can’t believe how hard western North Carolina mountain towns were hit. They are calling it their own “Katrina”.
