I have a question. I get what we call "frost boils" in the spring. We get 100ypm annually and I have a hard time with them. I have tried cutting deap and re-laying, pulling materials from the shoulders.. but the boil comes back, and reappears the next year. I have hears from other operators that is has to be dug out and new material put in. We have alot of sleughs (ponds) too, these like to happen right between two ponds. Ild love some advice on this topic please.🙏🏼
@graderman140m10 сағат бұрын
@@BenJaMin-zs4tt I know what your dealing with all to well and unfortunately the main reason we deal with frost boils is not enough gravel over the subgrade also having good quality gravel is very important if water goes through the gravel surface into the subgrade will cause frost boils and as far as fixing them the only way I’ve had success is by using a geo textial or fabric to separate the gravel from the subgrade or else dig it all the way out bring in new material but that’s still not a 100% fix we have used the fabric in a handful of slough bottoms and have never had another problem it’s expensive fix but it is a permanent fix. Hope this helps and thanks for the great question and thanks for watching!

@@graderman140m Thank you for showing your GRADING work on county gravel ROWs. I learned so much from watching you explain the "WHY" of moving the gravel from one side to another. I have run a JD-570 very old school grader. I lived the ( T) Handle that was designed in the older graders For moldboard. I mostly ran a small Lee boy Cleaning up shoulder work. I own a used 1978 Dynahoe-190 Backhoe, back in the late 1970s I ran a lot of JD 450-B&C dozers and Case 450s And International 125 dozers. You are a great instructor for grader/ Gravel work on ROWs Please keep video yourself out on the roads. Doing grader work there is art to it. Not every operator can do it correctly. With the GPS hookup on hydraulic blade control NOW it's changing the industry so a new operator can grade properly. You are a pro my grader friend

How do you fix wash board roads? Or how would you recommend?
@graderman140m21 күн бұрын
@@edwinwilhelm7999 so pretty much only way to get rid of washboards is you have to cut them all the way out so you can’t see them anymore then relay it and compact it although if your getting lots of washboards in a road it generally means you have poor surface gravel on your road hope this helps thanks for watching!

I have run both. I like the steering on cat. I prefer Deere. The AC will freeze you out. Cat sucks! When it hot i run with doors open. Cleaning ratitor sucks on the cat. Deere i never blow them out. They have a reverser on the fan blow dust out. Every thing is mounted on the side instead front each on a Cat. Little things on the Cat pisses me off. The cab also sucks on a Cat. I'm 6'2" no leg room, Deere lots of room. Thanks for the information.
