@@graderman140m no problem I enjoy watching and learning about it I know here in Florida where I live on a dirt road they only use lime rock which feels like sand and they don’t use a packer nor good gravel which gets washed away during a rain storm and makes it hard on a motorcycle at times

@ I gotcha I’ve never used one of them I’d assume that’s more aggressive then my dozer blade I’d set it down so it starts cutting and just go by feel hope this helps.

@@schneiderexc3557 I can believe that I didn’t blade all of them but hit the ones that were rough had just enough moisture to seal them up with packer so hopefully they stay pretty good till spring thanks for watching!

Hey been following for a while now and have learned a few things for that I thank you. Playing around with the idea of starting my own KZbin I’m wondering what camera you use ? I’ve been trying to decide between GoPro and DJI and I’m leaning towards DJI. I’m Forman up here in Saskatchewan for an RM we run 3 ~ 150awd ,3~grass cutters and two gravel trucks. Winter is hitting hard we have a lot of snow this year. Any camera info you have would be appreciated thank you.

@@edmondtaylor4270 I will generally say 3 to 5 mph is a general average for speed while grading really depends on conditions and your level of experience I tell everyone I’d rather have an operator go slower and do a good job then try to go faster and not do a good job hope this helps thanks for watching.

So you allowed to leave a little maintenance windrow on the edge? Here we are not allowed to do so, so what is your recommendation for the little windrow left in our case?

@mikewaite5849 yes pretty much everyone in my state leaves a small maintenance windrow of material on the edge now if you can’t have a windrow out there you will have to make 2 rounds on the road I do it in the fall going in to winter or if I do any winter blading I cut the whole road out and then relay it all back out it takes twice as long but if they want no maintenance windrow that’s the correct way to blade a road like that hope that answers your question thanks for watching!

@@jamesragus1577 I could definitely do that and I’m very familiar with a 140H spent 5 years operating one great machines and you’d be surprised it’s honestly not bad to adapt to the electronic controls heck most operators once they get used to them they don’t ever want to get back in a old antler rack machine and yes I love the training I get to do and I figured I got the knowledge I might as well share it with others thanks for watching!

@@cdp7961 so where’s your experience and recommendations on what’s best this is a small rural township who only has a grader to maintain there roads and plow snow with I used what I had available I tried to get road open wasn’t able too it happens every so often and why the need to say I’m a goof didn’t your mother teach you if you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything at all!

Minnesota here, just curious. Are the rural roads usually plowed? Do they blow some of these cuts out. I realize the problem of opening with a plow, piles the sides up and as soon as the wind blows again you are plugged. Maybe we should all move south and shut down during the winter months? Ha, someone has to do the work!

Hello from South Dakota and yes all our rural gravel roads get plowed here and all these cuts we just have the grader to open them I’d love to have a pay loader with a giant snow blower on it but budget won’t allow so make do with what we have and lol after that winter I wouldn’t have a problem going south for the winter lol thanks for watching!

@@ConnorThompson4 well what the videos doesn’t show is I’m going up a 7% grade so I’m really not letting off early I’m running out of power plus even if I did let off early I don’t want to spin my tires creating ice that just makes things worse.

Love the channel, my town operations tell me they can not get those Shark style blades. I mentioned to them I saw them used in Winnipeg years ago to get ice off the road. But then the town isn't really interested in making safe roads.

Do you run at a set rpm and manually shift up when starting from a stop, or use auto mode and the foot pedal accelerator? Thanks

@@indy5ss I generally run everything manually with my foot feed I run around 1800 rpms in 4th gear around 5.5 mph but that’s in good conditions and I have the experience I can operate at that speed you just starting out I recommend you take it slow 2 to 4 mph get the feel for things first before you go faster I’d recommend not using throttle lock run it with your foot to get the feel if you have any other questions ask away hope this helps thanks for watching!

Hi graderman I’ve been watching your videos for a few months really enjoy watching not something u see every day I wish you could grade my dirt road here in Florida hard to get a motorcycle down it. Anyway I have a question for you I have a compact diesel tractor with a rear grader blade and I’m learning how to use it u have any tips for me on how to grade my driveway it’s mainly grass and sand just trying to make it smooth and less bumpy. Thanks for doing a great job out there

@@stevens8328 happy you have been watching the videos I appreciate you watching and find it interesting as far as your road and grading it with a blade on the back of your tractor I’d try and blade the grass off to the side then try and cut material from the outside to the middle creating a centerline then take and level out the windrow of material in the middle a little bit creating a crown hope this helps and thanks for watching!

@ right and I loosened up the grass and the ground with my disk harrow with a few passes then I put my blade on the tractor was wondering how much of an angle should I use far as 20 degrees or 45 degrees and should I have my mole board angle forward or backwards for cutting it

@@stevens8328 that’s good that you did that I would angle your blade at like 40 degrees and try that if it doesn’t flow very good just put more angle on your blade and try that let me know how it goes and good luck.
