When I was 18 back in 1970 I worked at a Union 76 Station. Gas was 30-32 ¢ a gallon. We pumped gas and gave full service. We ran out to greet customers when the bell rang. Checked the oil, transmission fluid, water and air. Washed windshield and sold oil, fluids, wiper blades, hoses, batteries and tires when needed. I made $ 1.65 an hour and actually made a living, renting a one bedroom apartment for $ 55.00 a month. Bought groceries, went out to eat, went to the movies, bowling and bought a used car. When people talk about the good old days... that's what they mean😊.
