When u start sewing, It takes awhile to figure out what fabrics work best but using the right fabrics is so important. Good luck!

Hi Mary :) Mary, as a new author, I was wondering if you would like to do a review on my novel 'Red Scarf?' by Alex Monroe (Amazon) Bye, for now, Alex. 🙃

Loved knowing your thoughts on the series .Its on my TBR ! Can you tell if the font size if good enough in the paperbacks?
@MaryAnnaReads11 күн бұрын
@@bookishtalksbyyashita thank you!! And yay I hope you love it!! I would say the font size is somewhat standard in the paperback! It’s not giant like some YA is but that spacing is not too close and the font is not tiny!! I’m not sure if that helps but I really hope it does!!🫶🏻

Hi there! for the gathered part in the bust, is there notches on the bottom part that you sew it to? I came across this in a pattern before and what you can do is: - long stitch between the bust points like you are making a ruffle - pin the bust and bottom piece together at the notches (you will notice how much fabric needs gathering together) - pull the ruffle gathers together till it lays flat - sew over the ruffle
@MaryAnnaReads14 күн бұрын
@@shelbyw1765 I didn’t even pay attention to them but they are there!! Thank you so much for this tip!!! That makes a lot more sense and I’m sure when I do it next it will lay much prettier than my first attempt! I really appreciate it🫶🏻

Two months late, but the bunching thread is actually because of a tension issue with the bobbin. It’s a problem with some Brother machines. You can fix it by winding a new bobbin and using it. Also, I am glad that I found your channel. I love watching detailed costuming/sewing vlogs while I work on my own creative projects. So you definitely have a new subscriber.

That is so helpful thank you!! I’ve struggled with that since I’ve started so I’m very glad to hear there’s a simple solution. Thank you for your kind words too. They mean so much! I really appreciate your tips and that you took the time to comment! I also love watching videos of others sewing while I work on my own projects, it helps me stay motivated!

Doing by learning is a win. Knit fabric and corsets do not mix. Heavy woven non-stretch fabric works best. Binding with bias tape will help with puckering. (Making your own with the checked fabric would be awesome!). I think the silver trim would look good with the checked bias binding. You’ve already got some tips for the boning. 👍 Keep in working to improve your skills. Use the patterns as guides. I would take the suggestions for fabric types that are on the pattern. Takes courage to try new things esp. putting them out on KZbin! Keep it up!!

Thank you so much for your incredible tips and your kind words!! This is so helpful! I will have to try making my own bias tape and I am so glad you commented this because I’ve never looked to see that patterns have fabric suggestions! That’s a game changer!!

lol when you showed the lace trim i thought the same thing "is it concert or picnic" i'd maybe take it too far myself and try putting the trimming over the seam where you added the second piece for length, but i have very limited sewing knowledge lol maybe that'd help break it up, but then it might be a weird spot to create sectioning so idk :)
