I don’t think I’ve seen a review of vortex viper 85mm spotter. If you’ve ever used one, how does it compare to the Athlon Cronus? Which would you pick?

@CoopaTroopa0525 hey there! We haven't yet done a review on the Vortex Viper, so can't say really how it would compare to this in a side by side. Although, given how favorably this Cronus compared to a high end spotter like the Kowa 88, I'd probably say it would put perform the Vortex. Thanks for watching!

Looking this up as I saw one second hand for about 160$, seller says it's been used for about 30 nights and was wondering if that was a good price as I don't see many down quilts on sale where I live. I've always used traditional mummy bags but have been looking to try some lighter down quilts to lighten my pack setup. I'm 180cm 80kg, any advice would be appreciated !

Did you find the lumbar pad on the K4 rides lower on your lower back with the crib attachment? I used the initial ascent last season and was able to pack 7 animals out with it and it rides very well and sits a bit higher on your back. I’m trying out the K4 currently and feel like it almost sags on me compared to the IA. It’s comfortable but just feels like it sits lower. Did you notice this in your testing ?
@BackwoodsPursuit
@BackwoodsPursuit Күн бұрын
@scottmyers9241 hey! I don't know that I would say it felt like the K4 rides lower, but the lumbar pad on the K4 is much taller (vertically) thank the IA, so there is more surface area there to feel. Maybe hats what you are feeling? I didn't have the K4 sag on me at all during my test, but certainly a different feel. Thanks for watching!
@scottmyers9241
@scottmyers9241 Күн бұрын
Maybe that’s what the feeling is on the lumbar. It feels fine but it is a different style over the IA and SG packs I had been using for a lot of years. It just feel s like it rides lower. My club tried it out for indoor shoots, the 6 fall down, worked great for several matches(they made a thing out of pvc to reset by pulling a rope) we limited it to 22lr rn, each match each target was shot 100 times. by 10 matches,1000 shots 1/2" holes started being knocked out-of course in the center where everyone aims- so after that you had to aim at edges if you wanted it to knock down, by 15 matches the holes were 3-4" in the middle-useless , tried several things to repair but nope. So ended up costing about $30 a match (8-10 people) for the targets.

I'm looking for a stable standing height tripod for a anthlon Argos scope that isn't too expensive. I don't need ultra lightweight. Mostly for shooting range use and bird watching from the back porch. If it could be used for a dslr camera also would be cool. So you have any recommendations?

@flailhail hey! For a standing tripod, I'd look at the Slik 773 or 774. Those aren't terribly expensive, but great full size tripods. There TONS of options if you don't need ultralight, so there are certainly some even less expensive options than the Slik as well. Thanks for watching!

I got the Exo K4 and I was surprised how narrow the frame was as said in the video. I've used external frame packs like Norrøna Recon 125l Synkroflex pack and Bergans Powerframe 130l, they are heavy packs but carries heavy weight pretty decent so I'm a little skeptical on how the Exo K4 will do when packing out animals

All depends on what you can afford and what you can justify affording and if you are willing to buy used VS new. There is an old tried and true saying in binoculars that goes like this: "The best <$600 binoculars are a VERY gently used pair of $1k--$1300 pair of binoculars. I just scored a pair of literally same as new in box made for Cabela's by Meopta 10x40 Meopta Meostar HD B1.1 binoculars for <$600. There is absolutely no way on earth I will EVER find any of the other 10X models you profiled in this comparison for under $800 let alone under $600. I looked for TWO YEARS for a LNIB used pair of 10X SLC's best price I ever found that didn't end up being a scam )and there more than a few) was $800. In MY OPINION the Meostar B1.1's are well within 90% as good as any binocular made under $1500 and certainly not worth spending an additional $600-$700 for new or used only to gain at best 10% better optical performance, but that is MY opinion. I have spent several hours now just sitting by my local forest preserve lake viewing water fowl and deer at the last and first hours of daylight and I am absolutely astonished at just how good my Meostar B1.1 HD's are. Trust me when I say you can not beat a LNIB used pair of $1300 binoculars for 40-50% less money. Just something for the budget minded hunters out there like me.

I switched from Exo to IA because Exo packs suffer from slippage under heavy loads (77lbs or so). IA has a better fit, allowing you to carry much more weight comfortably. Not to mention the noise that Exo packs make, which is unacceptable in my opinion. I choose IA also because of the full carbon fiber frame versus the Exo's rod system. It's true, the IA's side pocket system is worse than the Exo's, but I prefer that to a pack that suffers from slippage or makes noise, and believe me, IT MAKES NOISE.
@BackwoodsPursuit
@BackwoodsPursuit 19 күн бұрын
@velvetvelvet7689 thanks for the feedback! I did have the K3 squeak on me a bit, so just put some wax on the frame between the material and that solved it. I've not had the K4 make any noise on me though yet. Not all pack fit everyone, but that 4 mile 128lb pack with the K4 was amazing and it didn't slip at all for me. I'm sure some body types it will slip though as packs are kinda like boots...gotta find one that fits well and is fitted well to you. Thanks for watching!
