Hello. I have a question. Why not use driven key for this purpose. Why are math nodes better?

Oh, I have a feeling that your tutorial will be a blast! You already gave us amazing insight when it comes to the A vs T vs star poses and provided very solid arguments! I like your style of narration and preparation and I can't wait to see more of your pipeline, hear your thoughts and support you along the way! Cheers and kudos to you! one question, if you don't mind: will you cover FK/IK position matching? I heard that this is a real headache and heard a lot of ppl complaining about it.
@neeshma
@neeshma Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! By FK/IK position matching, do you mean: 1) In the rig, not having snapping between FK and IK when you switch? or 2) During Animation being able to easily match FK position to IK or vise versa Sorry if I didn't understand your question correctly!
@MalcolmCho
@MalcolmCho Жыл бұрын
@@neeshma sory haha, I had to ask my pal about it since its not my forte haha. I am aware of tools that allow to snap FK to IK and vice versa positions when animating (scripts tools). I guess those can be find online. but, I am curious if its possible to create something "in rig" so to speak. When you have the IK/FK switch and that switch also covers snapping limbs into the posed position. Because usual FK/IK switch does not cover the snapping thing, right?
@neeshma

@@MalcolmCho Thanks for the reply! I see what you mean. So far in my Animation experience I’ve never encountered a rig that automatically does that (yet). We usually just use Animbot for this. But I’ll definitely look into this.

I was craving for a good beginner tutorial and it seems i found one. Sadly i'm not working on Maya anymore but i think it's gonna be usefull anyway !! You make your instructions very clear as well as your reasons to do so, and it seems to me like you know what you're talking about ! Did you work in large structures by any chance ? (tutorial are often made by unprofessional self-taughts) I'll be waiting for the next parts of this tutorial that i'm sure are gonna be as good ! Thanks and good luck !

Wonderful Beginner Tutorial. I was hoping you would go into your workflow for editing the mesh? When editing the face did you fully reUV the face? Is there a way to cleanly update the model without messing with the textures too much?
@neeshma
@neeshma Жыл бұрын
I usually just select edges and delete them, use the multicut tool to add edges. With moving the legs together I just used soft select and symmetry and moved the foot of one side in. I didn’t delete any faces or add faces, that’s usually where you get texturing issues. I’m not too familiar with texturing so I just avoid deleting/adding faces altogether and just make sure to delete history after my edits are done.

Thank you for this! To this day Arnold won't save shadow matte alpha using the GPU (WHY???), so at least I'd like to render a separate pass for the shadow using CPU but without using the extra time to render all objects. I think this will do the trick!

In your blendshape editor, you would duplicate your blendshape, right click and select "flip target" and then you would follow the rest of the steps in the video again.

Hi! I am currently using Maya 2022, and I have experience using render layers. I am using the new setup, not legacy. My question is, how do I create a layer for reflections only and keep the alpha of the object that is being reflected. Right now, I am getting the alpha of the plane that my object is reflecting on, but I want to be able to pull the object's reflection alpha for compositing in Nuke. I was hoping the setup would be similar to a shadow layer, but it is not quite working the way I would want it too. Thanks!

Beautiful tutorial, now my problem is i need the reflections on the object and hide the object and the shadows, but when i uncheck the cast shadows and the primary visibility, the reflection of the hidden object look half opacity, i don't know what to do :(

I'll try to explain this better, i just want to preserve reflections, not the shadow, but when cast shadow is unchecked the reflection is screwed up

This works well with the Arnold Render Layer panel but is very unintuitive. So thanks for this alternative approach! Some things that totally threw me for Render Layers. In order to see the "Absolute override" menu item under the right click menu for primary visibility, you must first turn on the eyeball icon for your (Red) render layer (Not the Scene Layer). Then you can see the "Create Absolute Override" in your right click menu for the selected scene object/shape node. Secondly, do not use the isolate buttons in the collection layers if you want to see the shadows of the invisible objects. The isolate button overrides everything, including shadows and reflections. Instead click the checkbox for the Absolute Override layer you just created for the render layer panel. Also notice that you will have three layers for each collection if done correctly. You will have your yellow collection layer for Transforms; under that, your collection layer for Shapes; Then under that you will see your green Absolute Override Layer.

this is a fantastic tutorial, and can help understand the process clearly, would it be easier to use render layers though, especially if you are compositing in a software like Nuke? interested to hear your take on this
