How much time did It take to record and master this beauty?

I have to loudly protest that such an amazing bassist as Jeff Berlin is buried in the mix and only appears on video in the background. My buddy who is a bassist took me to see one of his clinics. He was the first bassist that I saw perform Bach’s compositions on the bass. I literally gasped. He deserves more appreciation, this song is so entwined around the incredible bass lines of Chris Squire, with his pick and guitar speakers, and it’s barely audible in the background.

Hi Rick. I love your channel. Thanks for doing such an amazing job breaking down each instrument / vocal track. I've been playing bass since the age of 15 (1977) Keeping with the instrumental break down on Roundabout, I would love for you to analyze and explain Chris' attack during the keyboard solo at 20:14. The riff itself is not too complicated but the speed is mind boggling. Thanks Rick.

One of my favorite songs from that album. I regret I've never had the chance to see them live. Heck, I only just got the chance to see Peter Gabriel last year for the first time.

Not only his style and technique, but the choice of drums and their tunings. Saw him live the first time in 1972 Lark's Tongue's tour, then 2x more, then later in the 70's his solo tour . Never a disappointment. His videos are a memorable treasure.

Bill, lo mejor que pudiste hacer, irte para el jazz, es decir de donde viniste. Como decía Astor Piazzolla: "el que se estanca se pudre".

When I first started drumming at 12 years old when I bought my first drum set with money from mowing lawns. I paid $60.00 for a broken down 3-piece Premier set. Perpetual Change was my favorite song. Throughout my teen years I drummed to that song trying to perfect it. I'm 60 years old now with a nice Pearl Session Custom and still have never mastered it but that's okay. It will always be my favorite drumming song. Thank you, Bill for inspiring me all these years. Be well my friend.

Here is the truth without bias. Just like guitar players drummers also pick up bad habits. The old thumb over the neck is he most famous ugly thing. Drummers should watch how Bradfords stick economy and ergonomic balance he uses while motivating thru his kit. Very little exaggerated muscular extension is used. He holds his sticks in an odd way but it is not subtracting from strike zone velocity nor dynamic placement. This is the guy drummers should study. Mangini is worthy of study. Carey is actually. Bozzio is master level but nit approachable. He alters rudiments and is in a genre to himself. Not all music is for kids but these greats studied rudiments and strived for excellence. Theory will get you a distance but then it must become a facet of emotional intelligence. Sometimes one must hulk it. Music is dying. Its all this internet look at me stuff. These great musicians did study work touring and contemplation. We will never see another bruford. Fripp is another. Do not approach fripp until you have learned on your own how unsatisfying the blues scale really is.

I’m absolutely thrilled to once again live in a world where Bill Bruford plays drums in a public setting. I hope this trio comes to Savannah GA, or at least Charleston. There’s a growing jazz scene here but few opportunities to see or play it live.

Jon cried the Blues on Rick Beato: a very profitable 'Guest' w/many Commercial interruptions. He was the only one who was necessary for both "80s YES" & "ABWH"! He was complaining 'cause nobody Loved him when after all of that, he was sick (& Rich) but no one else called him or sent him a Card. Sad chap. Couldn't get a break. Pulled from both directions. Chris Squire laughed at the entire thing as it was the most profitable YES anything & he was really the only one that was in it fully & in control; no bales of Hay, dumb hobby horses for the mood... Just 🎼 for the time!
