Everybody gangster until Adrian Belew starts playing an orchestra from his guitar

It's such a pity that the cameraman at the Warfield Theatre thought this was an Adrian Belew solo concert. All videos from this gig seem to suffer from this misapprehension. The double trio was such a fantastic group. But as all Crimson incarnations, it was exactly that - a group. A fascinating, magical ensemble working together as a team. Not a singer-songwriter supported by a backup band.

The best song on a tremendous album. In the drums, I hear buried dinosaurs smashing their ways to the top, among other things. Phenomenal ❤

Saw them do this live in 95 in Vancouver. It was absolutely levitating! I believe we dropped for that show if memory serves correct. And on another note : only 4 days to go until the Beat show here on the Canadian Left Coast. Super excited, but if I'm being perfectly honest, granted Vai and Carey are excellent musicians, but I would prefer Bill and Robert. Vai is good, but RF is better. Same goes for Mr B : there is, and can only be, one Bill Bruford. ❤

@ Dropped at a Crimson gig? Did you see the Crimson king? (And I don’t mean Fripp.) I’m in the UK… Can’t see it coming here, sadly.

@mattleppard1964 yes sir you read that correctly. It was pretty out there. That's putting it mildly. But no, no encounters with Satan, but i suspect you might be referencing a somewhat more esoteric entity? Idk lol

There are so many incarnations of this band, and every one of them has achieved spectacular high points; this is one of them from this era. And there are so many that I dig into one of them for a while, then listen a while to another, and this goes on until I think I'm sort of out of my Crimson phase, but by that time I realize, oh, I haven't listened to _that_ line-up in a while...

This is wonderful. I’m seeing Beat in October, and really looking forward to the new incarnation of “Crimson” playing the 80s stuff. I’ve never seen ANY variation of KC, ever, so this will be an experience. And I know that this particular song was from the 90s, but I am hoping that they throw in a couple of curveballs in the setlist or encore. Would absolutely love to see this one live.
@worldnotworld8 ай бұрын
That's actually a great suggestion! I assume Beat will throw a few tunes from other places, most likely Zappa if they can find a tune that suits a KC show (is there such a tune?). But Dinosaur would be excellent, easily played by the four-piece!
@randyeisensmith14838 ай бұрын
Adrian plays this song quite often on his "solo" tours, so it wouldn't surprise me if it makes the set list, along with Lark's Tongue #2 or some other KC songs not strictly from the "Discipline Era."

I don't know if this is the greatest pop song ever performed or if it is the most pop KC ever performed, but it's definitely the song of theirs that gets in my head the most.
