Seems like a big PITA. Would you say that replacing the entire axle with new ones would be better? They are not that expensive. They come with boots on both sides, should save time and reduce risk
@atm4jim9 күн бұрын
IMO - yes thus why I made the video. There is a bit of a Porsche tax on the axles as expected which are made by GKN.

I ordered the Motive system and extra adapters for European and Asian cars. What junk. They sent universal adapter that was two hooks and a chain. What a joke. The adapter was too big to even fit in the area where the fluid tank is. The pump worked once and then wouldn't pump again More junk. All the connection are direct fittings, no swivels so you have to twist the hose all up. It's like a high school shop class at a remedial school designed this. There is one good item included in the package but it's an extra, the catch bottle. What junk. Buyer beware.

Thanks for the vid. Just one thing: Folks, use OEM parts and you won't regret. My local Lexus dealer sells the belt for $26 plus tax for the 2013 RX450h. Btw, they sell a longer bar that you can move the tensioner from above the engine, looking down. Harbor Freight sells for $20.

I had trouble finding the wiring harness/LED driver but the part number is 997.612.914.00 as shown on the sticker on the epoxied block piece. I ended up buying it from eBay from someone that used the led sill for replacement but didn't need the harness.

I would like to add the instruction how to release the tensioner the easiest way. I found this very handy instructions with illustrated picture "How to loosen Serpentine Belt tensioner". Remove passengers' tire and under-fender plastic trim. Relax the tensioner by turning the center nut counter-clockwise. Use a long, flat handled socket wrench to get leverage. Once the tensioner has been relieved, place a 5mm bi-hexagon wrench through the bottom hole to keep it from moving. Please add this instruction to your video. For first time DIY it will help a lot . cimg5.ibsrv.net/cimg/www.clublexus.com/1600x901_85/845/serpbelttensioner-rx-29845.jpg

The one I got is about the same diameter as my stock wheel with the added padding or about 370mm/14.6". They may come in slightly smaller diameter of 14.2/360mm depending on the Macan model.

Jim, great video and thanks for making! I know this job was a few years ago, but wondering how you like the B16 kit, and if the ride quality was worth the expense over stock? I’m debating doing a B12 pro kit with the Eibachs, or just spending the extra money for the B16 coil over kit. My car is a 2010 C2S, with PASM, so should be easier to install than your AWD turbo. If you were to do it again, would you buy the B16 kit, or something else?
@atm4jim9 ай бұрын
I'm happy with the B16 kit as I wanted to keep PASM, adjustable ride height, blue springs(not yellow lol), and higher spring rates for hybrid between street (not too pot holes in my area) and light track use. It will depend on what you're trying to achieve over stock and type of driving and roads condition in your area. The spring is stiffer so you will certainly notice it on rough roads but it's not harsh with PASM and DSC controller. Yes, should be easier to install since you don't have front axles to deal with when trying to remove/install struts assembly to clear the fenders. Looks like about $1K price difference between the two from Rock Auto.

thanks for the detailed push in, and circled photos.... im having the same issue w my 04' gx sometimes i rides bouncy if i let it rise on its own the ride aint bad... any ideas or solutions? greatly appreciate any words of advice
@atm4jim9 ай бұрын
Could be a number of reasons why it's bouncy but would start by checking if air bag has a leak somewhere or if it hasn't been replaced, I'm sure the rubber has rotted by now. The system has several components like air compressor and sensors so you need to isolate/troubleshoot.
@ingvarleskovar71699 ай бұрын
Pay attention. In the video, roughly, where "the special tool" is inserted into the wrench, in the tensioner, you can see a small hole. There is slot behind it in the tensioner body. Release tensioner and slide a 4 or 5mm hex wrench or a rod into the hole - AND IT HOLDS TENSIONER OPEN. Also, I simply used long double box 14/16mm wrench, withoput any extra lever needed.

Hi Jim, crazy thing today I started up and back out of the garage & I always look for any leaks all the time & there was one drip that tasted like sweet coolant basically below the water pump area. I drove to one spot no more leaks drove to another place and looked no leak then came home and looked under & no leak. Strange & crossing fingers it was maybe a startup blowoff the overfill? Very weird. I’ll be watching carefully. 2nd thought was water pump but that was replaced 1500 miles/1 year ago so maybe a hose nearby the water pump but again no other leaks all after noon. Very strange. Hoping it was a fluke which sounds weird too.

I don't think GoPro supports that, only basic GPS telemetry. It's a niche market so don't expect them to add this feature.
