С нотами все хорошо,но нет задора и радости жизни Кальмара.Сухо играют и поют.Спасибо режиссёрам СССР,снявшим великолепные фильмы опереты Кальмана.Прошло много лет,а пока лучших оперет в кино нет.Актеры,музыка,певцы создали жизнерадостный фейерверк для души.Кто не видел, рекомендую.

Musicology and historically informed performance has almost killed off the true life blood of what music making should be. Here are hard working and probably extremely underpaid soviet ost german musicians who by some miracle have got hold of a colour camera. Yes the organ is way too big, Handel would have just had a chamber one in the lincolns inn fields theatre. But stop the press here we have a true bark of a saxon musician from an unbroken line going back to Mendelssohn, the Bach school, the Cantor composers in Dirigor Richter. He was probably a control freak, but by the looks of things he was a benign and magnanimous one. Heaven was already calling him. It is the freshness, forcefulness, gentleness and constant appeal for childlike wisdom that shines through despite the smoke, teddy boy hair cuts and 20th century overtones. Great art stands on its own. This recording is priceless, timeless and will become part of your life over the years. These are real musicians and they trust and respect their commander, he is their commander and he is doing his very best. Chef d' oeuvre! Molodtsy!

Correction: this orchestra was probably a mix of Munich hochschule colleagues, bavarian professionals, east germans and others. This orchestra would go on to play Europe wide and in the US.

I listen and watch this and can't help thinking...: "What has happened in the last 45/50 years to have caused the current decline in opera? No one sings like this anymore (aside from Raimondi, whom I have never been able to appreciate)

What has happened is that the training is no where near as thorough and quality driven as it used to be, and singers are encouraged on to the market to make money for them seleves and their managers as fast as possible, and before they are ready. Theyare also less serious about the whole thing than they used to be.

Back in the late 80’s, maybe early 90’s, the NBA produced one of the most beautiful commercials ever, and totally unexpected…it juxtaposed the climax of the love theme from Romeo & Juliet with slow motion shots of incredibly balletic athletic moves of the NBA stars of the era. That commercial has been lost to time. If anyone ever finds it and can post a link. Seriously, imagine watching a basketball game and then the melancholic beauty of this theme emerges from your television 15:12 that causes you to see athletic performance in an entirely new light. Remarkable.

Это такое редкое сочетание, чтоб внешняя красота была равна его огромному таланту! В опере это большая редкость! Обычно, либо красота, либо талант. Жаль, что оперная карьера Франко Корелли была так коротка!❤

Не так уж коротка, собственно: в целом с 1951 по 1976 год, итого 25 лет, что для оперы немало. Другое дело, что ушел он со сцены, еще будучи способным продолжать карьеру, пусть не в оперных спектаклях, но, по крайней мере, в таких вот концертах.

Eugene Ormandy and Philadelphia Orchestra is an example of highly disciplined perfectionism. It is perfectionism not only for technical flexibility and precision, but even more important, for great orchestral sound, phrasing and style. The baton technique and attentive eyes of Ormandy are in the service of music. Just watch his baton; it express all the meaning of music. Their performances of Russian music are speciality and let’s not forget that, they were the favourite conductor and orchestra combination of Rachmaninoff in America. So, this recording of Romeo and Juliet by Tchaikovsky is among the reference ones.
