Average golfer that doesn't play consistently is a 20+ handicap. Even the avid golfer who's a high handicap is a 12-15. Average handicap for a trained golfer is 7-10. Less than 1% of golfers in the world are scratch.

20 is probably average. A lot of guys I play with can’t break 90 and have been golfing a lot time. I’m about a 5 handicap and I would not say I’m in the average golfer category
