Evan, firstly, thank you for towing us in your journey. It takes a lot of courage abd vulnerability to show us every shot- good or bad. I just wanted to say - you’ve already won in life. There are so many of us watching your progress, and it’s just a privilege you’ve given us. If I had any advice to give (which no stranger on the internet has a right to), is to play free. Bro, you are the real deal. The pressure you place on yourself is a two edged sword- in one way, it’s why you are great. The other way, you just expect perfection. I am telling you, you have the gifts to go as far as you want if you just didn’t get in your own way and play FREE. Keep going brotha, thank you for everything

The game is there brother, you are an unbelievable player off the tee. The distance off the tee gives you so many birdie chances. The short game and putting will come more natural with more experience on the Pro tournament style conditions.

I’m no course management expert/high level amateur. But I feel like the way ET played 11 could’ve been different and allowed him to get rolling early. 315 out on a pretty open par 5 and laying up to 125 yds is bananas to me! Scottie scheffler averages 15-16 feet on his approach shots between 100-125 yds and is the PGA tour leader. With ET’s swing speed, ball striking and the way the hole is set up, I don’t understand why not hit it out there 260-270 and give yourself a pitch shot in. Much easier to get your third shot closer to the hole and give yourself an easy birdie opportunity from that distance. Or why not look at percentages and aim to where you can miss with the driver on 14! Joe schmo’s like me benefit from course management strategies that a program like Decade Golf offers and I feel like ET and his caddie would benefit as well. Keep up the content!

hey man! great comment here! The rough at Hazeltine was brutal, hard to understand without being there. You would rather be 100 yards away in the fairway rather than 10 yards away in the rough. It was brutal out there!
@bigwinsports14064 ай бұрын
@@evanthompsongolf I get the thought process of having a favorite number from the fairway, but the stats will always say you get the ball closer from 10 yards in rough than 100 in fairway. You should check out some of Scott Fawcett's stuff
@iammars1424 ай бұрын
@@bigwinsports1406 The stats are general PGA Tour averages. If he's never played in rough this thick, they're almost irrelevant. Hard to do well at something you've never experienced. Greens rolling 14 and USGA championship level rough are a fine reason to fall back to the comfort zone. Can nit-pick strategy, but his strategy probably only cost him a stroke or 2 over 2 days. Game just wasn't there that weekend. Happens.
@Butcho223 ай бұрын
@@bigwinsports1406 Yeah on average, but depending on the pin placement and bunkering around the green it can make sense to lay up.

Was gonna leave a comment about your game, but tbh it's hard because I wasn't there. I play to about a +1 and sometimes my dad will ask me why I hit X club off the tee and he doesn't really get it because he's not playing. I don't think your management was that bad, you hit driver, it costed you, then backed to the 2 iron, the 2 iron still costed you, but I don't think if you hit driver you woulda had a better time. I really just think the nerves got to you, and obviously that will just improve over time. Also really sucks when the putts are just burning edges all day. You start to get mad that they won't drop and become more and more aggressive. Still unreal that you got into the stroke play part of the US AM. You got it next year brother.

Way too defensive approach to the tournament. Irons off the tee and still missing fairways and making bogeys/doubles. Looked and sounded like you were just trying to survive and do OK. You are not going to win anything with that mindset. You have the length, shots and skills to go low so just believe in your abilities and go for it man. You need to make it happen rather than wait for it to happen.
