I own the pwco breakvan kit, and it runs just fine on peco branded turnouts so it not working on non peco track makes se sense

Hi Dan, I've only recently come across your channel from KZbin suggesting the 56xx review video to me - so far I've only seen that one, this one and the 57xx one, and I think you're doing a good job :) Clearly other people like what they see - I think over 300 subs in 7 months is good going in this area! I think you're totally right about the general lack of N gauge reviews and information - I was quite surprised when I started on my railway at how hard it was to find certain information, and was surprised that there weren't loads of videos about fitting DDC, doing loco maintenance, and talking about Dapol reliability! Ian's N Gauge is one of the other channels trying to put that right. It's a novelty coming across an American fellow GWR N Gauger! You must have great patience with the postage times and to-and-fro with warranty dealings. So far I've done a total of about 40cm of N gauge ballasting, about 15 years ago on a test section, so I've got it all to come (have since done about a metre-or-so of T gauge ballasting experiments, but that's done with very different materials). Personally I don't like the look of the plastic Kato trackbed - I've got the amount that comes with a Kato Class 800 - do you think ballasting would have been easier with Peco or similar track, which doesn't comes with a trackbed? But even if so, the Kato track is probably much nicer to lay and get working. A tip for filming on the phone - I put mine into "do not disturb" mode so that notifications don't make a noise or vibrate the phone. Keep up the good work! Jonathan

Welp for James having pickups … soldering iron , solder stick thingy , wires & brass with superglue There you go that’s how to give James an upgrade . Tho maybe to hide the brass on the tender get some black paint on the part where we can see it clearly

I have a 57xx and it's one of my very best locos! It is both my smoothest and most reliable loco! I do run DCC though, so that may be the difference. It doesn't like being on a blanking chip on my analogue Hornby controller though, it tends to pulse somewhat, as does my J94 I just got. But with a 6 pin decoder fitted, both are flawless. I have no issues with the cab removal at all I can change the chip in a few seconds, and the hand rails I find easy enough to pop in. But as you say milage may vary!

Hi, Thank You for the review Dan. I have been considering one myself, and it was good to see the review on Kato track/turnouts which is what I have. I agree with you on Rails of Sheffield and their quick shipping. I just received my first order from them last week. I too am in the US, and cannot Thank them enough, and I just placed another order Sunday. Cheers!

I really enjoy your channel! I hope that you can review some BR MK1 coaches in the future as I’m a fellow American looking to follow in what you’ve done in terms of British n gauge. I’m looking to pick up a Graham Farish western rambler set. This would give me my first British n scale locomotive and rolling stock. Plus, I want the rolling stock and engine. Have a nice day!

Fantastic video. If I remember rightly one of the last Thomas Tuesdays of last year November I think it was Doug Blaine said that N scale Gordon has a production run date of May. So hopefully may they start making and June or July we get to get Gordon

Looking to get back into the hobby and I want to do N gauge for the size compared to HO. Glad to see they make Thomas products for N as I always wanted to have a Sodor theme. Great review of Percy by Bachmann and appreciate pointing out the price disparity of the manufacturer from a third party retailer!

You're doing very weĺl; keep up the good work! Brits I know speak of the interesting pronunciations of some British place names. Your friend James' channel might not be GO-spoet if it's named for the town. Gosport (/ˈɡɒspɔːrt/ GOS-port) is a town and non-metropolitan borough, on the south coast of Hampshire, South East England. There's a place named Towcester that's pronounced TOASTER.

A lovely kit and I think you used the right colours. It's a kit that anybody can do even if you are short of talent in creating things. You are right about Peco. I find them too light and the wheels low quality. The answer is to add more weight and get some Farish wheels. That seems to be the common answer. I bought some Peco GWR trucks and they were awful for derailing forwards and backwards.

Kato track is much higher quality than Peco. The Kato is 100% reliable. Although it is commonly available in the uk, the problem is that its expensive here. Over here, Dapol trainsets come supplied with Kato track. I have used it for years, and found it to be great.
