So helpful as always!!! Should we clarify for each pregnancy PPH, gestational HTN, GDM, etc?
@drkcmiller3 күн бұрын
Glad to hear it! And yes, I do. But I usually will first clarify their Gs & Ps. After that then I'll just ask "in any of those pregnancies, did you ever have XYZ issues?" and run the list. Easier than asking it every time for each pregnancy. Usually they'll say some thing like "yes I had diabetes in my second pregnancy".

Thank you for this! it was hard to think of more specific questions since I still am not 100% certain on what is exactly the most important things to look for in a program, especially when it comes to specifics such as case numbers. I would love to know what your thoughts are on post interview communication, especially when schools state they don't want thank you messages. How can I further convey to them that I will be ranking them high following an interview?

Any safety tips for Saint Vincent? We go to sjsm and they are closing the Anguilla campus
@drkcmillerАй бұрын
Hey! It's been almost 10 years since I lived there so I'm sure much has changed. Overall, the people and community of St. Vincent are kind and peaceful however like anywhere, there is a small portion of the population of criminals who will specifically target foreigners. General practices of not walking alone at night or with your headphones in staring at your phone apply, as well as picking an apartment complex that is gated, with security, a good lock/key system and bars on the windows if you are ground level. I recommend reaching out to students who are currently there. Hope that helps a little!

Congratulations!! Glad to see how far you’ve come, well done. Can I ask your thoughts about rotations? Do you recommend bouncing around (trying out different hospitals), or completing rotations at a hospital that offers core rotations throughout the city? I’d really appreciate your advice! Is it better to try out many different hospitals to maximize options during residency applications?
@judy10001Ай бұрын
*the hospital offers full core rotations
@drkcmillerАй бұрын
Hey I think that the more rotations you can do where they actually have a residency program that you'd like to apply to, the better. I'm not sure if you're an IMG or not but if you are, I think that really opens doors for the match. It opens doors regardless of international status but I think any edge you can get as an IMG, the better. You could also do most of your cores at 1-2 locations and then plan to branch out for your electives. Hope that helps!
@judy10001Ай бұрын
@@drkcmiller Thank you, Dr. Miller! I am a Canadian IMG wondering if I need to do rotations at a specific hospital in order to apply to their residency program? Sorry if this is a silly question, I'm still pretty new to this. I'm pretty sure that I can finish all my core rotations at one hospital, but the electives (which I am told need to be 24 credits total) are uncharted ground and I don't know how to proceed. I would like to match into OBGYN and don't know what would most help this application. Thanks so much for the quick response, I so appreciate your help.

My name is Mobeen, and I am 20 years old. I recently completed my O and A Levels, but I did not choose science subjects such as biology, physics, and chemistry during my studies. Due to various reasons, I was unable to pursue these subjects, although becoming a doctor has always been a dream of mine. Now, I am determined to achieve this dream and would like to understand how I can pursue an MBBS degree despite my non-traditional science background. Could you please guide me on the steps I need to take to make this possible? Specifically, I would appreciate detailed information on the following: 1. The feasibility of pursuing an MBBS degree without a traditional science background. 2. The process and requirements for applying to medical schools, particularly any prerequisites I might need to fulfill. 3. Information about the UCAT exam, including how to prepare for it, what resources to use, and where to start. 4. Any additional steps or advice on what I should do to achieve my goal of becoming a doctor. Your guidance and advice would be incredibly valuable to me as I navigate this challenging but exciting path. Thank you for your time and assistance.
