Hey! Today I'm walking you through a mock UWorld question step by step, start to finish. I show you how I read and answer qbank questions, as well as the review technique I implement to maximize retention.
For those asking, I will not be sharing my own personal document of notes :)

Omg this is SO helpful, thank you so much!! I'm using UWorld to study for the NCLEX and have been kinda lost on how to study more effectively. I typed out all my notes in nursing school, but started writing them out while studying UWorld. That was a pretty dumb decision considering writing takes forever and there's so many questions to get through. I'm definitely going to back to typing. So much quicker, like you said, and it's much easier to scroll through 20 pages than go through a stack of papers. Restudying notes multiple times will also be easier this way. Thanks again!

I have a question for you regarding Uworld. Since answering the questions alongside studying and making notes can be very time consuming, would you personally suggest just using the “Educational Objective” at the bottom as your main focus (as you show in this video) while of course you read the whole rationale/explanation. I have already made a very lengthy study guide and it’s only getting more comprehensive. Please suggest

1. How do you keep track of what day you studied which topics? 2. When you studied the qbank, did you only study cardio one day then another System the next?
@Medumentary
@Medumentary 4 жыл бұрын
Hey! 1) Easy, every qbank test in UW is timestamped with the day you took it. Or, each day you take notes from your qbank you can use a post-it or half a sheet of paper to write the date, and just make a bullet point list of the topics you covered (eg. Migrain, tension headache, hypertensive emergency, etc.) for easy reference. 2) Depended. When I started studying for Step 1 & CK I went system by system. After I made it through almost a full pass at UW then I started just doing mixed Qs

But how to choose what’s important in the question? Sometimes there is way too much info in answer explanation which can’t be found in FA or PATHOMA?
@Medumentary
@Medumentary 5 жыл бұрын
If it's not in FA or Pathoma that's what I focus on most! Those details are always the ones that show up on NBMEs and boards. It's hard to decide what's most valuable, but I think the first paragraph, and then the educational objective at the bottom generally have the most high yield info. The other stuff should be read in order to understand overarching concepts, but I don't always make detailed notes about them. When it was early on in my education, I would do less questions (like 10-20), I make more extensive notes because I was really trying to internalize the material. But when I was close to step 1 on my second pass at UW doing 40Qs or 80Qs per day, I kept a narrow focus because I'd seen it all before. Hope that helps!

Would u read other answer choices besides migraine for example?or u read but don’t make notes?
@Medumentary
@Medumentary 5 жыл бұрын
I read the whole explanation. I try to keep my notes for each topic capped off at 3 lines. If there's another topic that I'm weak on, eg. SAH, then I make a separate note for that topic and review both. I don't write notes on every topic the description goes over, because I know that I'll likely come across a UW question dedicated to that topic specifically down the line. I'd say most important: focus on the problem the question is directly addressing AND learn why the answer you chose is incorrect. If you're on your second pass at UW and are a few weeks out, then you can be nitpicky and spend the extra time reviewing and annotating each disease outlined in A, B, C, D, and E.

@@FG-ng1cy There is a way to save the diagrams to a flashcard on UW now, so I do that. I then study the diagrams the same way I study my word doc. Look at the table, look away and try to recall as much as I can, look back and see what I missed, repeat, etc.
