Cant believe this only has 4 comments in this age of crap, shallow, soulless music. Great effort.

The tune I know is this one, s sung by The Spinners kzbin.info/www/bejne/qniqcoZvobCVgqs

Interesting, the tune is slightly different to the one I used to sing in the 60s folk clubs in Glasgow. Sounds like a harmony of the tune I know, but I can’t trust my poor hearing now.

Listening to this again, three years later. After Brian's death. I cannot help but listen with the profoundest sadness and sense of loss. These shows were one of my christmas "always'" as brian would put it.

What a gorgeous rendition. Ruth's voice is so genuine and soulful, and the arrangement is stunning. Any chance it could be remixed to remove the distortion from the beautiful high notes? It mars what is truly a transcendent performance. Thanks.

I was there to watch her sing in at the Rockport Music - Shalin Liu Performance Center in Massachusetts. Angelic! Not sure if anyone knows, but this is this the same location that CODA, the movie that won the Oscar for Best Picture in 2022 was filmed.

I have an O'Donovan ancestor who married a Ronan from the Ardfield and Rathbarry parish and they eventually moved to London, their daughter married an O'Driscoll from the Clonakilty area of Cashelisky whose family also moved to London - all around the black years of the late 1840's. I was born in NZ but have metaphorically taken my people 'home' on my many trips to West Cork where I feel 'at home'. It is the most beautiful part of the world. It is a long way from New Zealand but this Kiwi does fly North regularly. It was moving watching this video and the places I am very familiar with. Bless.

Yes! INCOMPARABLE. Each year, I listen to as many covers of O Holy Night as I can, then I just loop Ruth's -- sometimes all night, or until I want to stop crying. Her's (Celtic Sojourn's) is the perfect gift to us all for all time; and a true classic. Thank you.

That really is balletic - lovely. It’s interesting that french ballet has influenced both formal Scottish Country Dancing and Irish modern step. A very pretty costume which, to me, is so much better than the embroidered competition costumes. Mind you, I’m not Irish, so could be wrong about the ballet influence.
