Could you use the clear gesso to make the texture paste so that the paste dries clear?

Speaking of different papers, I took the instruction paper out of an asthma inhaler and found it was stronger than gift wrap tissue. but still light weight. So I painted it up! I used a brayer and acrylic paint, rolling out the paint on a gelli plate to make sure it wasn't too thick, then onto the back side of the paper, that had less printing on it. Also...the paper from the toe of a new pair of shoes...tissue around another kind of paper-ie stuff, which is rough and kind of creepy, but different. Not sure I like working with it, but others may love it!

When I got the wrapping paper idea from you, I glued some to a page in my sketchbook, then doodled around it. Thank you! I found that the slick wrapping paper was a pleasing-tactile-sensation on the side of my hand. Then I ventured into using some slick magazine page bits to get the same sensation, and found that the pen nib slides so nicely on the paper. Book pages are wonderful paint surfaces, but not so much for penning on, unless penning over the [acrylic] paint!

I enjoy combining different picture formats too. For my Dec. journal [not part of any group, a just because journal] I used images from a story book, printed up pix of my daughters holiday-themed-crochet things and some pix of granddaughters [one including a costumed Grinch], and odd bits from sales flyers and magazine pages. I didn't try to finish any pages as I created them, I left them to add to as the days went on, or created more if needed! Like snowman cartoons my husband came across during the month, since I ended up with a snowman theme-ish.

So imaginative, Karen. I'm always impressed.

I love it. I love the front page. So many compartments in one section. Lots of pockets and cards. Even journals and tags. The pictures where great as well. The back page looked so nice, it was like no, it's done, that is the end? You are so talented. You can make something out of nothing. I checked every once in awhile to see if you were on. You need that darkness of the 'simple' page, because it makes more sense when you open the door and see the more open vines/area, and the inclusion of light, even if it is only a bit, It really says something about changes. Our lives aren't all Monet, sometimes they are paint thrown on a wall.

Up and Down with depression [most of my life], then a stinking mismanagement of a pandemic [here at least], then husband/colon cancer....the last few years have been yucky. So when I found you, I started to pull out of those ditches. 2 'journals' with my names in them. The trees 'journal' because I really love trees [ok, mostly pine] has my VJ signature, one I use for all makings, and now I am doing my second one and adding my full name....maiden name that is. My husband has never liked me using my 'other' last name, but that is just to bad. I tried to 'explain' it to him, so we shall see if he can get past his own self over it. I am having fun with both of them! Thank you Karen!

Thanks for the recipes. I have looked up recipes from others who shared. I can not remember which ones, but they did work at that time. 🙃😊 I will let you know when I get a chance to use your recipes.
