Very well done! The paranoia, the self-loathing, the redemption; it’s all perfectly crafted.

If they made a 2nd movie or a follow-up TV series, I would be so happy! I want to see more of the lives of these characters! I'm pretty sure that when I first watched the movie, I audibly gasped when Shouko was about to commit suicide. I must say that I hate that black-haired girl with a burning passion! She's such a bitch! When she had the sheer audacity to claim that Shouko was self-centered, I wanted to reach my hands through the TV screen and do to her what the Hulk did to Loki in the 1st MCU 'Avengers' movie! And, when Shouko's mom confronted that bitch, I probably thought something along the lines of "Yes! Kick her ass!".

Great Pretender isn't a fighting or heist anime you turn your brain off to watch. The show isn't very 'explanatory' on things for a reason, it's complex and wants you to think about it. Now, I found the anime confusing at first, but as I got through it, I understood how it plays out and why it has all these different plot twists. Each arc, or case, deals with different topics, mafia, trauma, manipulation, etc., for the most part these ideas don't interlace over different arcs. I don't think it would make much sense to have a storyline about Abby's past, dealing with fighter planes while racing planes, when they are making a counterfeit painting in London. Or it suddenly showing how Salazar is doing with his kid when we're in the middle of an assassination scheme. Also pretty sure what Edamura meant to Abby was that it's not good to hold onto hatred for someone or hold onto trauma, weighing you down for your entire life. And that a lot of people have gone through trauma, obviously not being the same as hers, but not letting that take over them completely and being able to move on from it- *not forgetting the traumatic event*, just not having your mind stuck in that state for a long time. But I understand that everyone has different opinions on things, I just wanted to say some things that I thought of while watching your review. Though I do recommend you finish watching it, despite you most likely not to, due to you constantly calling the anime, *"fucking stupid."*

I mean I like the show because of the characters but my question is... Why did Edamura say that to Abby like was he trying to let her know that she's not alone- in this kind of trauma, that there are other people who can understand her and stuff? Like, what was the point of Edamura saying that

Everything in this movie is incredible. The music, the use of a shaking camera, the use of slow motion, the attention to detail, the characters, the animation (the animation on the characters facial expressions especially), the story, the voice acting, it all works impeccable. I watched this movie in the dub, and I have never seen a movie before where I can name 10+ scenes thats got me emotional. 3 scenes in particular almost made me break down crying when I watched it for the first time. By the time I had finished the movie I knew that I had just witnessed a masterpiece. 10/10 movie.

Jesus Christ this movie. I watched it yesterday and I'm itching to watch it again. I love it when a story looks at all characters from a sympathetic view no matter how complicated and seemingly unlikable they are. I love the themes of self-forgiveness and most of all I love both the main characters as flawed as they may be. The movie left me wanting so much more (which imo is a testament to great writing). Their relationship to me was absolutely adorable. I 100% believe Ishida was about to admit to himself that he loves her before he was cut off by his fall in the suicide scene. I'm not even usually a fan of anime, but my god do I love this movie.

The anime is too realistic man And j don't have a problem with ur video but j said not to watch the show that's where I got the problem with you just things this is some points I noticed in this video First thing I don't think the studio which created aot won't accept some silly animes Second the anime is too realistic Third it has some best songs Fourth he hasn't wasted time given a perfect story line Fifth some guys don't like the anime because people only like when mc I sgood and holds the power of friendship that's why I think h didnt like the anime Sixth dude every one has their own Morales no one can say what's correct and what's wrong it only comes too how much u can show ur perspective that's what matters Seventh Dude the characters are not grounded I don't think u have crossed with the life of salzar right then how can u say they are grounded

No. I fucking loved the anime until the last 2 episodes. It was a 10/10 for me until that point but after the last 2 episodes i can't stand it. I fucking hate this show, it had so much potential just for the 4th case ending to ruin the whole anime for me. The mc is treated like trash by literally eveyone around him except Abby, including his fucking parents, a random grandma that ran a whole chilf traficking bussines treated him better than his deadbeat father and mom that left him in the dark and the show still has the audasity to portray lauren and oz as great guys when they infact ruined the mc's life

The opening - he is planning/rehearsing in his head still - the "final day" was still coming up on the calendar; but first he has to be "content" that Shoko is going to be fine without him and "maybe" she would give him forgiveness. The fireworks is foreshadowing likely, but also it breaks his attention to to basically get out of his daydream (planning). His intention in the original meeting was to "tie up ends" the best he could - BUT he unexpected asks to be her friend (which is a relationship question - which messes up his plan to end his life). Why he asks that question is worth pondering - I believe it has something to do with his brain realizing she was saying that to him over and over years ago and tying it together - basically seeing her he acted it out but really it was him awaking up to her desire for it all those years ago; perhaps cued by her asking about him learning to sign and his mind thinking of her and her signing in the past. Very good video and insight as well.
