If this clip isn't a good argument in favor of the 2nd Amendment, then I don't know what is! If your home is being invaded by armed robbers and you're waiting for the cops to get there, you could have quite a wait! I hope that you either have firearms at your home and know how to use them, or that traffic is light that day!

What is the difference between the regular PA300 and the FDNY spec?
@WK-fk8mt
@WK-fk8mt 20 күн бұрын
The wail and yelp tones are specific, and there’s no hi-lo. The wail and yelp sound similar (but not identical) to the older silver faced (and some early black) PA300s. As far as I can tell, FDNY started using these back in the late 80s. Not sure what the motivation was for speccing them out like this, I wish there was more info on this sort of thing.

How do you have it setup at your house? I want to do something similar with a SoundOff Signal nERGY 400 Series 200 Watt Dual-tone and want to be able to have it on my table. Not sure how I'd be able to make it all work! If you have any recomendations or articles I should read please lt me know!

At first I used to use a motorcycle battery, but the way more sustainable way is to use a bench top AC to DC converter. I have a pyramid PSV-300. You might be able to find a cheaper one nowadays, I think I paid like $80. That gives you a power and a ground. I also use a resister in line with the speaker wire so it’s not deafening indoors. Be careful, the volume is damaging at full power.

Well, now I'm 100% sure what they used to replicate the 60s-70s sirens you hear in the game Mafia 3. These things sound amazing. I wasn't even alive in the 60s and 70s, but somehow these sounds are nostalgic to me.

It is a really fun place, but not if you want peace and quiet. A video of a little fender bender shouldn’t impact your opinion of the city.

The US is so pathetic in handling their emergency reaction policy towards the populace... In Germany we know of a "rescue corridor" (one of many names) and if you hear a siren you are legally required to take any space (pavement etc.) to get your car outta the way or you'll be fined for obstruction... That's why there's a siren in the first place. So people can make way soon enough... No matter so many incidents are unhandled for ages before law enforcement or emergency arrive over there... A country in need of 150 different signals to get exactly ONE car outta the way; that view speaks for itself.

Been in LE since 1994, why have I not heard of the settings between? I still remember my first day on day shift. At the academy they taught wailing on long stretches, yelp upon approaching an intersection, and hi-lo while in intersection. First call I did that, my FTO reached down and put the siren back on yelp and said "What... you think you are in F^%k*%g Europe.

That's got to be terrifying and aggravating trying to respond in those conditions! A few people could have at least TRIED to back up and MOVE out of the way! Clearly people don't consider that someone NEEDS HELP, and could some day be someone they love... Nice work with the Bee Boo among other epic siren mixes though - hope it turned out well.

It’s true. In the 70s lots of NYPD cars had hi-lo, you can hear it in the original The Taking of Pelham One Two Three. One of my favorite movies. Also, side note, NYC EMS used to run lots of hi-lo too up until the mid/late 90s. Like the other person mentioned, it’s been making a comeback.
