I've been using your chest rig and bandoleer for a little over a month now and they are some of my favorite. I especially like the fitment for ak mags in the bando. Have you considered making the chest rig mag pouches a little larger to better accommodate ak mags? Or perhaps making a seperate rig all together? Ive been quite disappointed in the options out there for us ak enjoyers. Also, any plans to make a 8 mag varient of your chest rig? I would buy 2 in m81 tomorrow if you made one. Im sure im not the only one.

If I do an AK version I want it to fit specifically for AK frens 3) no plans for 8 mags at this time

I think "don't outrun the headlights" is the wrong approach. The right approach is "balance your need for security with the time allotted for movement." You are security for the Element. But if the Element needs to show up in 3 hours, you have exactly 3 hours to move whatever distance you have to move. That might be 10 miles. On foot. And you don't have a lot of opportunity to move securely. But you ARE providing security for the Element. You will run into the problem (if any are en route) and while you may disappear, your friends are alerted and can react as appropriate to whatever situation is developing. You only get to go slow and take your time if there is no "time budget" on the mission. Or the time budget is generous enough that you can prioritise your personal Security.

Ok, I think "civilian tactics" (or Citizen tactics) IS the right term. And Civilian plate carrier, civilian truck rifle, or whatever. Because Mil tactics are executed within a mil context. There is HE, MGs, tanks, helicopters, and groups of 30 or 120 fit and trained dudes with nothing better to do with their time than whatever the government tells them to do. That is just a different context that what I'm in. I have a rifle (actually, more than 1). And if I'm lucky, some neighbours. One of whom is literally 89 years old. If I'm really high speed, I might have smokes, a binary, and 3-9 other dudes. Who are keeping down jobs and prioritising their families. So on a Civ plate carrier you have medical, mags and water. You don't have frags, smokes, 2 radios (1 for the leadership net, 1 for aircraft), breaching charges, and a litter for cas evac. Plus 200 rnds for the belt fed or a 60mm round (cross loading). Or an AT rocket or recoiless rifle round. So there are HUGE differences in tactics because there are HUGE differences in equipment and mission. But your point of "do people just hole up and let someone else fix the problem?" is valid. Because as stated, we see that Police are ignoring a lot of problems. And SOMEONE has to deal with things.
@woodsghost90882 күн бұрын
To say it a little different: The tactics you use when you have 30 guys and $1m in equipment and training, backed by $200m in equipment and training, able to deploy $500,000 in munitions to support them, and able to access $100m in medical support within hours if needed, are different from civilians. Civilians have maybe 4 guys, with $10k to maybe $30k in equipment and training (possibly only $3k in equipment and training between the whole group), backed by $0 in assets, and able to access whatever medical facilities will accept them (IF they can pay). That requires two different sets of tactics to address similar problems.

The Franklin dos great with 22lr adaptors. The Fostec is better for real work but needs a FA cut bolt carrier because that bottom lip(?) catches a safety/toggle which prevents the hammer from moving until the bolt is fully forward. So you eliminate over-running the gun. Same concept is what makes a FA AR work. Del-Ton has a 16 inch HBAR chrome lined 1;7 upper. The example I know is overgassed but a red Springco and a H2 buffer makes it eject where expected. The next purchase will be a Red Right Hand upper. There is stuff to learn with getting the body in line with the gun when prone, rather than offangle from the body by say, 30 degrees. And loading that bipod. Mil doctrine for a tripod MG is 7 moa (2 Mils) from 6 rnds or so. So my expectation for a cone off the bipod is 7-12 moa with 6 rnds. That is the goal I think one should work towards with 4-6 rnd strings. The [swiveling] Harris with spiked feet, as mentioned elsewhere, is the way to go. An Atlas or similar would probably be great. I have used the swiveling Harris and it's great. The heavy barrel is really needed to deal with the higher volume of fire without burning out too quick. My opinion at this point (subject to change if better info comes) is every 3-5 guys should have one of these. Every AR is basically a DMR (especially with magnified optics) so it's not necessary to make a DMR specific gun until you have 10+ people or your unique terrain demands it. If 1 person in a group of 4 has NV, I think for a group, this rifle plus tracers would be my next choice. Over and above making sure everybody has $5k NV setups. Just my opinion. But it DOES suck being in the dark without NV.
@CitadelDefense12 күн бұрын
Nods > Binary gun. The binary is probably more accessible for most people cost wise though. I think one ever 4 or 8 guys is appropriate. I have to figure out to how effectively feed this thing. My jury is out if it should be approached as a crew weapon or if that's over kill. In either event someone in addition to the gunner will probably have to carry more ammo.
@woodsghost90882 күн бұрын
@@CitadelDefense1 for feeding, the general consensus seems to be that it is an individual weapon. The gunner carries 14 mags (if possible), and extra ammo is sourced from the team. You did a semester at One Shepard, right? Were they running the LSWs then? They run 10 mags for a gunner and the team plusses them up when they are low. The IAR from the USMC seems to be a reasonable model to copy. The rifle is the same Corp wide, but the dude in the Automatic Rifleman role carries 14+ mags. I don't see a way to make this a crew gun because of the feed system. You could do it (crew served) with the Bren, the VZ.26, and belt feds. But the RPK heavy barrel FAL and these binary ARs (LSW) all seem to be Individual rifles. What I also see being viable in a crew sense is running a spotter/ammo guy along side the binary. In a team of 4-5 that might be the TL. I think it would be worth getting these on tripods. Like the 1919 tripods. With T&E mechanisms. For the benefits of MG fire. And if you look at a SAW ROF, I think it's 50 rnds/minute, you can use that as a starting point for how to use and think about this thing.

Having owned your chest rig for a while, it's clear that you put a lot of attention into your craft, definitely one of my favorites! A proposal for your rig; with some testing I noticed that the general purpose pouches can hold about five 556 magazines which is great if you're not doing anything else with it, only that they're hardly secure, and flop all over the place. My proposal is, why not create some sort of friction fit insert for the pouch that adds designated magazine holders! That way thay don't jingle jangle and have some retention in the pouch. I'm going to try to make something like that for myself, but would be more interested in purchasing from a man good at his craft. Just an idea!

lo-vis zippered thigh pockets. If you were in the military and have been strapped on bucket seats on 130's or just strapped in seats in general where you can't exactly go digging around for sh** through pockets, those are very very helpful. Velcro seals for pockets are great for stuffing mags that would normally get caught if they had buttons. You see....you gotta know what they're for. And who gives a damn if they stain when you're putting in work?

I haven't found a single trainer who used the term "civilian tactics" in a derogatory manner. Usually, it's to distinguish between how things are done in a professional military--where your job is to train, and engage, in warfighting and you have a very large beauracy supporting that mission--versus the civilian side where your job is to be a plumber, or a medical assistant, or a school bus driver, and you limited resources and time for training. As a former Paratrooper and infantryman, I don't think civilians need to know SUT before they know how to safely defend their home and their family members. That doesn't mean civilians are incapable of learning SUT, nor does it mean they shouldn't learn SUT; it means that civilians are more likely to face certain threats compared to an infantryman, and civilians also have different legal considerations in their use of force, so they train to those considerations. This whole video comes off as this guy projecting his insecurities on to the post-military defensive instructor crowd.

But that equipment needs to have the ability to be removed and stashed very quickly. At which time, as partisans often need to do, blending into the surrounding population will be paramount...
