Well said. Boromir represents the modern perspective so well… He had altruistic intentions, but couldn’t see the flaws in his own nature. That’s why the idea of destroying the ring confounded him. Likewise, when Jesus sacrificed himself instead of seizing earthly power, it absolutely confounded the prevailing logic. But the ring had to be destroyed to end the viscous cycle that Middle Earth was in. Similarly, Jesus had to die to save us from the viscous cycle our flawed nature has had us in.
