Ok now i had to restart the system, i do it in a way that you don't know what to do and i certainly won't show you how to do it the normal way because who cares?" Seriously can we have an ACTUAL tutorial?

I am trying to set up automatons to control dimmable lights using Modbus. I have a modbus value successfully pulled in as a sensor. How would I go about turning this Zwave light on when the sensor is greater than 0 and use the value as the brightness percentage and turn off when the sensor is at 0? thanks

Ok... I am a neophyte to HA. Learning and transitioning from Homeseer. Some step is missing.Probably how to link this all together in the configuration.yaml? I did everything you did and restarted the system. Nothing happened. How does it know to look in the "lights" folder and use all of those files? I tried looking back through the video and could not find how you tell the system to see and use all of this. The groups.yaml is included in the configuration.yaml but it does not affect what appears as I suspect it simply defines groups. I do not see anything in my relatively short configuration file that includes all of what you just did?

I couldn't comment on your latest two videos as you'd turned comments off. You must think we are a completely captive audience to deliver such low quality. You've lost a subscriber.
@HASSCASTS4 жыл бұрын
Wow! Phil, No offence, but you couldn't be more off-base. The comments aren't turned off, they are disabled (something I wasn't aware of until you complained. It looks like as I marked the 2 videos as suitable for kids, that happens by default, and I can't see a way to turn the comment son) As with most channels... yes, I imagine I do have a slight captive following who will watch whatever I put up, my Mother etc), but in general I don't even consider the quality of my other videos to be that good, and that's one of the reasons I haven't really made any lately, I get caught in a "This could be better" mindset Look! if it bothers people that much then I'll move them over to my default channel that has 2 videos on (I think). Maybe you speak for everybody else, maybe you don't. Quite frankly I don't know. Either way, I like in the UK, which is a free country, and if you don't want to watch my videos, then please DO unsubscribe. there is a reason I don't advertise for followers etc, I only want followers who want to view my content. Thanks for the comment. I have to go now, as I have to teach my son the 2nd subject of the day now that I'm in charge of educating him. Lots of love as always John

Great video, I'm a bit sad there's no video from the actual doorbell itself. Or how it ties into home assistant (if any).
@HASSCASTS4 жыл бұрын
Hey, Peter. Yeah, I realised when I was uploading it that it was more of am unboxing than a review. But it took so much effort in the past 24hrs to get it rendered and uploaded that I realised that if I half it, there would be no video for at least another few weeks. I'm not happy with the video at all, but I felt myself slipping into the mindset of "that needs fixing so that when I cut parts out I need to find a places around the city where my head, mouth etc is in the same place so as to not be as noticeable". So I realised that I just needed to get it done and uploaded. I now have the doorbell installed and I'm gradually putting together footage etc for the video where I look at how good it bad the item is after having a bit of use. I'm also still trying to integrate it with Home Assistant but I'm having quite a bit of trouble at the minute. I keep getting drawn more and more into the reverse engineering side of things.

@@HASSCASTS no worries! Didn't know this was just part 1 of a series! Looking forward to the next part. Great to see more part time KZbinrs (especially ones pushing home assistant) within the UK! 😁 Of it doesn't tie directly into home assistant you could in theory set up an old android phone with the app, and tasker (an automation app) and autonotification (a plug-in for tasker) to watch for motion or ring notifications on that second android device and then Notify home assistant?

thank for the great work. please can also advise how I can add broadlink lights to home assistant . i have 20 lights which can be connected on broadlink app though i have failed to link them to my home assistant
@HASSCASTS4 жыл бұрын
Hi Kizza, If you have broadlink-mqtt running then you just need to add them as MQTT Lights using the MQTT Light integration ( www.home-assistant.io/integrations/light.mqtt/ ). For instance, I have my kettle set up as an MQTT Switch with the following config ``` platform: mqtt name: "Kettle" state_topic: "broadlink/BG1_97_55_ad/state/pwr2" command_topic: "broadlink/BG1_97_55_ad/power/2" payload_on: "on" payload_off: "off" state_on: "1" state_off: "0" optimistic: false qos: 0 retain: true ``` I'm not sure if the above will show up as a code block, but it is yaml. I hope this helps. Let me know if not John

@HASSCASTS4 жыл бұрын
Hi, Paul. Sorry - I didn't see this comment come up. I too am on the right switch, At the moment I'm looking at Zigbee switches, but I have Zigbee remotes at the side of the switches, although I am looking at the Philips Hue remotes, as you can get covers for the normal switches that accept the remotes but let you use the switch normally when the remote is removed.

Very late reply but you are wanting a watt meter, many of them even include the ability to put the electricity price into it so it will work out the actual cost of running.
