You mention a part 2 where you dig into the electrical issue. I am not finding that video, would you mind providing a link? This first part was excellent, thanks.

Free is always a good idea, even if the unit doesn't work it's still gonna be good for spare parts.

Just soak that throttle cable in shallow pan of transmission fluid for a couple of days, and she'll free up nicely for you.

I have one of these mowers. The engine I great. The engineer who designed the rest of the mower must be someone’s brother in law. Mine won’t roll backwards so I have to take it all apart and do that crazy repair. Thanks Honda!

Great video. Thanks for posting this. I just made the repair myself on my 2010 Ford Escape XLT, and it works great. However, I notice I still need to push in on the key a little bit when I crank it. Does that mean I need to replace the ignition housing, too?

I bought a 824 new in 1996. Always stored it inside and wd 40'd it well during storage. Looks alot better then this one. I did install a new carb recently. Left the modern fuel in it. I know use only Ethenol free and run it out after season is over. Starter bolts kept looseing being worn threads from looseing up but I think I fixed that end of last season.

Can I use the Lowes Magna Power Pro lead acid battery on my Cub Cadet to replace the original equipment AGM battery. Will it fit in the battery casing?

Will this trigger the brake lights to stay on while driving?
@mrfixit12032 ай бұрын
No It would most likely be the brake switch that activates when you apply brakes, they stick sometimes or become faulty.

Thanks. How loose is your PTO handle at the bolt below where the cable hooks onto? Just feels sloppy and I have some side to side freedom in addition to the up and down arc. I havent replaced the cable but stumbled onto your video to see if I could see how much the arm moved around that bolt area.
@mrfixit12033 ай бұрын
The handle is solid feeling, no slop or movement even in un engaged position, the secondary spring on the cable at the deck keeps cable slack from happening. The pivot bolt at handle linkage is tight on mine as well. Thanks for Watching!

The problem I ran into while doing this is that the pulley bolt was about impossible to get loose and I could not get the blade adapter off without a puller that i dont have.... So i found an eaier way. I took out the four 10 mm bolts that hold the rear axle in place and unhook the tensioner spring for the rear axle and pulled the whole rear axle out of the unit... Then I bent the belt guard out of the way to put the new belt on then bent them back in place.. fed the belt through while replacing the rear axle and loop the new belt over the blade adapter in onto the motor pulley, replaced the belt retainer on the engine and reattached the rear axle with 4 bolts and the spring and the cable. Total job time (first time doing it) was about 10 minutes incuding adjusting the cable. Way easier than any other way ive seen. Only tools neded is a 14mm & 10mm socket with extension, flat screwdriver to bend tabs and i used channel locks to bend back into place and handy to have a hook tool to reattach tension spring but can use needle nose pliers. Easy peasy.

I love my little Cub. What I decided to do for a battery change is not take off the seat or plastic. I used a wrench extension to remove the hold-down top bracket from the battery. I had to prop up the plastic with a piece of board to get to it. After putting in the new battery I decided to leave the top bracket off cause it's such a pain to get off. Instead I secured the new battery with heavy duty zip ties. Next battery change will be so much easier.

Way too much disassembly done here. Remove spark plug boot, turn of fuel, tilt it on the right side, remove blades and hub as one, remove blade guard on hub, push drive arm on transmission all the way up and remove cable. Then you can release tension to remove install belt. You separate pulley on transmission to get belt off transmission pulley. 10 minutes max and that’s with a stuck blade Hub. Smack it dead center and use blades to wiggle off. People make things harder than they should be.

I watched the whole thing to learn there is a “fine adjustment” that is on the outside cable. - thats alli needed to do and I have a really old mower. You should definitely try that first! It’s counterintuitive fyi- you make the screw longer to tighten. But nice video - thanks!

So i did this today. Car started fine. But then as i was going to the store, i noticed heat coming from out of the vents, and the gap between the cd player/ ac housing area, and the driver interior plastic covers. Only thing is, i'm not running the heater. I came home, popped the hood, and the engine wasn't even hot. Last time i did this, i didn't take that bottom panel off (the one covering the under part, not the one covering under the steering wheel), and i had no problems afterward.

@@6Strings-u2t I didn't save the link but it was very easy to find when searching. But you don't even need it all you do is remove the shield that covers the belt area and then remove the spring that holds the pulley. Hardest thing is putting the spring back.
