Free is always a good idea, even if the unit doesn't work it's still gonna be good for spare parts.

I just got one of these given to me for free and all it needed was some fresh gas and a few squirts of Fluid Film on the linkages. Does sound like the impeller bearing is a little worn, but it's not flopping around or making too much noise. Tires need air, but still hold some.

Just soak that throttle cable in shallow pan of transmission fluid for a couple of days, and she'll free up nicely for you.

I just got a free one today Someone put craftsman stickers on it. No gas in the tank Good compression and full of decent oil, good spark. Smaller than this model. Think it was no longer used due to a broken starter cable.

So I have the exact same snow blower that my aunt gave me as she bought a newer / smaller one to use for herself. I replaced the carb and with a lot of patience, figured out the linkage. However, the throttle cable when set to full throttle plate is opened and I can press against the governor plate which the linkage is connected to and I feel resistance on the spring.. but when I lower the throttle paddle the cable “retracts” slowly but the throttle plate doesn’t close. It was a pig to get the linkage back in place but could it be possible that I have the linkage in the wrong spot?

To I got the linkage together as best as I could from watching your video / rewinding several times lol.. new throttle cable. But the issue I’m having now is when the throttle is set to “high” or “full” it dies. I ordered a new carb to replace with fuel / adjustment as my current one only had air adjustment. The main issue now is when I go from full throttle to low, the throttle plate on the carb has no tension to close the plate.. am I missing something? A spring possibly? Or could it be adjusting the governor arm? At full throttle I can push on the gov arm and feel tension on the spring and visually see the plate close and open with spring tension.. but again.. when going from high to low, the throttle plate stays open unless I manually push the gov arm. I’ll try to get some pictures attached later today once new carb is on and if there is still issues.

From what I saw in this video I put the linkage back in the correct holes but again.. the throttle is non responsive while the motor is running (briefly) before stalling out. It is stored outside unfortunately and I’m wondering if the grease that’s on the throttle cable is causing a bit of a “lag” when adjusted from high to low

Why didn’t you check to see if the carburetor was badfirst udecide to go buy another carburetor $15 is a waste of money just going out buying a carburetor for nothing

Thanks for the comment Steve, since the fuel was left in the system and had gone bad the least I would have done is go through the carburetor and clean it, the rebuild kit for the carburetor was 25.24 on Amazon so paying 15 dollars made better dollars and cents to me. Perhaps just cleaning it would have worked as well but it was old and had gummy fuel in the line and ultimately I want the machine to run well and be reliable. If I keep repair costs low I'm hoping after the other parts are installed on part 2 "coming soon" for me is still very low cost for a good running snow blower.
