I watched a video of the history of a range of Aussie muscle cars. It went through all the models and iterations. After this, inspired, I searched for a video of the history of the Toyota Surf second generation (& also the first), in the same vein. There was none. 😢 Would that be a project you might look at? I'd love to see images and footage of the various iterations (especially the paint schemes). I checked on Wikipedia, it would appear to be quite a tale. Mine is an SSR Limited. I wonder also, has this been done for the Land Cruiser?

Greets from Western Australia. I've got a green-coloured second gen like this, best thing I've ever purchased. I've never had an irritation with the back window and drop-down tray. Mind, the spare tyre is not sitting on the back, rather it sits under the back of the car, accessed by dropping it down with a chain. I can see how it would be an irritation having to move that tyre on yours each time. 😄

I had a liteace commercial although it had a folding rear seat it could carry five people and it had a l800 cc petrol engine did lack power and there was a 4X4 version with just a lever on the centre console with the manual hub locks mine was the rear wheel drive version this is in Australia and although a couple of these people mover town aces were imported into Australia they were the first Toyota Tarago sold in Australia which were based on the Liteace and rear wheel drive and a people mover and not a 4X4 and in Australia in the 1990s there were very few ute based and van based 4X4 because people just didn't do four wheel driving you could get the Suzuki Jimny and Sierra but it wasn't that popular and l have only seen on generation 5 four runner ever you get it it wasn't until the early 2000s the generation 6 Hilux did come in 4X4 but again most Hiluxes were rear wheel drive and the town ace in Australia was the smaller Toyota van and they were front engined as the lite ace was forward control and the town ace came as a people miver rear wheel drive called the spacia and are not very common infacted l had a look to see if there were any for sale and there were none plenty of town aces and l do see town aces driving around been used as commercial vans and l was a courier and lots of my fellow couriers drove them very popular

In Australia we get the Hiace but most of them are two wheel drive they are work and tradesmen vwns also used for deliveries and in Australia there are more Hiaces on the road thanany other van because Toyota's are the most popular brand of motor vehicle in Australia and the latest generation of the Hiace are much larger and l have seen one or two of these Hiace Customs like this one with the 4X4 but most Hiaces serve different purposes such as the Hiace Comuter a small bus used by schools for transporting students and there are Hiace taxis use for transporting disabled poeple infact there are companies that there bussiness entirely revolves around transporting disabled people and there are the five people movers available in Australia there us the Estima Noah Voxy Vellfire and Alphard all JDM people movers and they are becoming more common unfortunately in the USA you will have to wait a couple of years to get them but been right hand drive if you are prepared to pay aud $100000 you can buy them with extremely low kilometres on them and Australia Post are using Hiaces now and thereis a Hiace Ambulance in the area l live in attached to the local hospital l think that us been assessed for if it would be viable as an Ambulance but when l go for a drive l do see a couple of Hiaces they are the go to van in Australia
