I daily carry a USP45, which I agree is chunky and heavy. For me, it's very comfortable because I carry it in an Andrews Custom Leather McDaniel II holster (IWB) with a second belt loop, and support it with an extremely rigid Andrews belt that evenly distributes the weight around my hips. Listening to the DVD commentary, I was really surprised to hear that the holster for the film was attached directly to the waistband of Tom Cruise's suit pants through two holes cut in the fabric, which he wore with no belt at all. A loaded USP45 supported by nothing but a light wool waistband is just bizarre to me.

Details matter. This person is racking the slide, commonly called the slingshot method, to chamber a round after reloading because that's the "modern" technique. This is largely because of Glock and their tiny stamped metal slide stop. Collateral was made in 2004. The people who taught Tom Cruise used the slide release method. Those people had come up using 1911s, High Powers and Beretta 92s. All are normally operated by using the slide RELEASE to reload. People who preach the slingshot say it's simpler, faster and more sure. HOWEVER I've never heard of any SAS/LAPD SWAT/Delta Force guys complaining about not being able to reload their pistol in a real gunfight back in the day, 1940 to 2020s, and wishing they had a simpler technique. LAPD SWAT still teaches the slide release for their 1911s

The divisions are not based on body weight. You can expect heavier weights in the upper divisions. For example you may find a 150lb sandbag rather than a 100lb bag. TTG Divisions: Intermediate, Tactical, and Elite

I used to carry a HK USP 45 for work. I switch to Glock 22s and 17s, then I got an Sig 2022, and now I carry an Sig p320 on duty, and a Glock 17 off shift. The HK USP 45 is a great weapon, but it’s too heavy. That thing used to hurt my hip when I used to carry it for a shift. Now, it’s outdated. Everyone wants a Staccato or a Gucci Glock 47.

I carried the USP .45 for a couple of years, trained often. My only complaint with the gun would shift its aiming point during follow up shots as the mag got more empty. The first few shots were fine, but once the mag was more than halfway done, it’s as if the gun became harder to get a follow up shot in the 10. I assumed this was due to the gun being very top heavy. When the mag is fully loaded the gun is perfectly balanced. Mag mostly empty, gun dips forward. I ended up switching to the Glock 21 as it doesn’t do that.
