I love the fixed carry handle and classic furniture. The skinny CAR hand guard feels amazing when shooting, fits just right. My first ever rifle was something like this, albeit a Californized monstrosity with 16 inch barrel, Carbine gas system, A2 stock, PT Gunworks muzzle brake (copy of LanTac Dragon) and a chopped pistol grip. Miss that thing, put 6000 rounds through it, lost my job and sold the whole thing for $400 😂 I love my LWRC DI but nothing beats the old school rifles.

Back when I felt a growing desire to build one since late 2019, I was surprised by how quickly the trend caught on. With my own completed nearly a year ago, I would agree that the biggest hurtle is getting that sight picture when bracing against objects. Its deceptive how easily the top-heavy gun likes to roll. As my first 10.3" AR, it seems the shorter the barrel the more a full-size suppressor makes a difference. I opted to mount a 7.5" .30 cal suppressor which serves to balance out the carbine nicely at a reasonable length, subdues the sharp recoil impulse into a gentle push, comfortably suppresses the gunshot, and virtually eliminates the concussive shockwave. The combination of optic, light, and suppressor make for a slick carbine that feels right at home for a retro 'special forces' role. The beauty of this build is twofold when its simplicity encourages the user to experiment with field-expedient modifications and its rugged construction encourages the occasional dirt and scratches garnered from running it as intended.

Great video man. Shooting my retro build often has made firearms with a normal height over bore seem odd. I also run a RMR on top of an ACOG and that RMR lines up similar to my Aimpoint 3000 on the fixed carry handle. So the RMR acts as a primary optic to the ACOG more times than not which is ass backward haha. These CAR-15s are so freaking light to use too. Carry around a rifle with a DD RISii Rail then go to a CAR-15 and it’s hard to believe they are both AR-15s in the same caliber.

Liked, commented, subbed. Give us more. Can we see some AK action ? Maybe running ak-47 thru same obstacle course, mud and all. Minimal furniture. If anything, maybe dress it up as whatever soviets used in Afghanistan in 80's. Or viet-kong version , ... to be consistent with jungle warfare theme. And thank you for production quality. What a pleasant watch.
