Just discovered your videos and have subscribed. Love hearing the commentary and I really like your secret on photographing the diving ducks! Great idea! I'm not as limber as you, though, so not sure how it'll work for me! :) Keep up the great work!

Chippewa is such a nice place! If you want to get short-eared owls, you can check out Shiawassee NWR about 45 minutes further south of chippewa. No guarantees but I have had them there a couple of times.

@susanmatako84698 күн бұрын
They're was a great place to watch short eared owl's. Just last year, until they destroyed the land with solar panels. Thank goodness I lived close so I could visit after work a few time's. They were tearing the land up right in front of our eye's.😞 I will visit again soon just to see if they're flying around confused or hunt between panels. Which I doubt they would to take that risk. I have a few favorite places I frequent. I'll have to try your area as well. I love new trails and parks. Plenty of Red Tails and Eagles here. I live in Sand Hill Crane territory.
@birdswithbeau8 күн бұрын
Bummer! I know, I feel like sometimes the wind turbines and solar panels are taking over 😵💫 I've also heard the Sandhill Crane migration in the fall is quite spectacular! I haven't been to any of the bigger places south of me, but I think it would be pretty cool!

I live in Bellevue. Every year the 2nd wknd in Oct we have Crane Fest. We also have a bird sanctuary. Unfortunately the Crane fest area is only open on weekends till the 2nd week of Nov. There is several water fowl and sometimes shore birds and several Eagles and Northern Harrier. Last year we heard a Great Horned Owl.

I'm a 66 yr old with a cheap camera but the same passion for birding and as many rare one's as possible and I know your frustrations when missing them by minute's. I have taken picture's (not your quality) of aRed-necked Grebe and a European Widgeon. I have visited the waste manager plant and will again soon. I just missed a Wilson's Snipe so I'm a little down about that. Also I saw a Mississippi Kite and took a picture of an Hudsonian Godwit. I missed a few other rarities that day. I missed a Golden Eagke as well. I feel the stress. I wish you the best young man I just subscribed. Where do go for your Winter bird's? I will try the UP soon. I'm looking for the Boreal Owl and Chickadee. Pine Gross beak the Saw-whet and the Red Crossbill. Love your video's and your enthusiasm.
@birdswithbeau9 күн бұрын
Thank you very much! Yes, I have thought about filming a video in the UP, hitting whitefish point and other places in the area. I think it would be such a fun trip, although I have been pretty busy lately with life. I also try to enjoy all of the parts of birding, even missing rarities and photo opportunities. I am blessed to be able to get out as much as I do, and I am very grateful for that! I am homeschooled, so I have a lot more time on my hands then other people my age. I would love to see birds like the Pine Grosbeak, and especially the Boreal Owls! Someday I'll have to plan a trip up there. Thank you so much for subscribing, I really appreciate it! I hope you had a Merry Christmas! Beau

@rsphotography230714 күн бұрын
Could it work if u take a place near the water and sit there or lay down and wait ? Or do they still see u and don’t come back as long as u sit there ? Not talking about having something to hide under really thinking about just laying on the ground waiting to the ducks to come back
@birdswithbeau14 күн бұрын
Yeah, that might be a good idea, although it's really hard to know how long it would take for the ducks to come back, so might not really be worth it. However, if you have a place where you know ducks frequent, it would be a great idea.
