We were so used to bland gray cardboard, that when Upper Deck came out we all lost our minds! Crisp white cards, another picture on the back! Holograms! I can't stress enough how much kids loved holograms in the late 80s early 90s, LOL

I would say majority of people there are into the new stuff, the fact that it's a tournament means that's going to be the case. But there are still a lot of folks into vintage stuff, and a lot of Commander/EDH players are into both. Most every vendor usually has probably 3/4 new shiny stuff, but also solid vintage sections, and there are lots of vintage magic artists along with more modern ones, so there's something for everyone.

Yes, I love the lore of the time. As a kid I loved seeing the little bits and pieces of the story in the flavor text of cards and piecing it together in my mind. One of the most interesting things I learned later was that Ice Age was supposed to be published after Antiquities instead of Legends, which would have made sense in the story line, and I think Legends would have followed Fallen Empires. Imagine that!

That was a CGC graded card. Ordered it along with 2 others from the same seller, also CGC 9's, that I would say were decent 9's. Thankfully its on the back and the front is about as perfect as they come so I don't see it flipping through the binder. But in the back of my mind I always know it's there.

Mostly, yes. There are definitely scammers (both buyers and sellers), but the vast majority are trustworthy. On eBay you can look at a seller's feedback history (do they sell a lot of similar items successfully? have they been on the platform long? Do they answer questions?) At the item level - is the price too good to be true? Is the description detailed or vague? are there lots of good pictures? Now there is eBay Authenticity Guarantee for cards over $250 where the seller ships the card to a third party who authenticates it and ships it on to the buyer. That way the seller can't send fake cards or cards that don't match description/condition, and the buyer can't claim that the item was not as described or try to send something different back in a return. I think this has been a game changer and has increased my trust.
