Love your enthusiasm and playing! But really, I don't get this masterbuilt and/or relic thing. It surely is not what Leo Fender had in mind, I believe. To put it bluntly, it is more of a business thing. Because, all you need is wood and parts and most importantly, fret dressing. That will make a guitar play and sound great, and not necessarily cost you that much. Neck profile, nut width, radius, string spacing at nut and bridge, you figure it out along the way by playing many guitars which you prefer. What rubs me the wrong way is that companies like Fender are charging 10k for a guitar that really is worth 1k or 2k. It's ironic that they keep referring to the good old years of the 50s, when the guitars were pretty much handmade (hence so much variations in specs), that should cost around 2000$ now. not 10000$. Now the wood is all machined, which is a good thing, but then the only difference is the wood selection and the setup, that's not worth 8k to me 🤨 Totally off topic, but what do you think of Marty Friedman's A Prayer ? it has this mix of melodic lines you find in chinese/japanese music with other influences. Listened it like 10 times last night lol

Hey Jon have you reviewed the Ibanez AZ Premium line? it is less expensive compared to the AZ Prestige. I have gigged a lot as a vocalist not a guitarist but have played guitar for almost asl long (30 yrs+). I want to move toward small shows and church gigs as a guitarist. My AZ's electronics may be a little overkill for gigging? I love my Fender Tele Custom with the HH config/push pull coil tap but it doesn't have a tremolo. I just bought a Fender Tele Player Plus waiting for that to come in also. I was thinking the latter might be a better guitar to gig at small venues and church. Any thoughts?

Japanese instruments are made by soul. Others are made by technology. The more money you gave the more quality u get. That’s why I love every MIJ instrument Such as Yamaha phx drum, montage and motif keys, bbne5 , trb 5 , jp2 bass , bb3000, AC5R , Silent 100, APX 2000, SG2000 and SG3000.

Very nice! On camera, it looks pale pearl blue! 💙! White with red stripe looks great too. I like the Gibson esk scale. Easy on my lazy fret hand.😊 I personally like urethane finishes. They stay nice for a long time. I've never played a Mustang style guitar. Lots of tone options. Interesting trem bridge. Thanks for sharing Jonathan!

Bought one today. Last one at my guitar center. It's Sahara Taupe color. I picked it up because I loved the neck and headstock and the pickups are just spectacular. ❤

I was watching the hands on the guitar and thought that that guy doing the demo has the same rare, expressive style that John has. Then the camera pulls back. I had to laugh at myself.

Cool guitar Jon. I think being a gifted guitarist, you could make a stick with a piece of string tied to it sound great.

You mentioned the 50/60Hz 'hum' susceptibility of single-coils but I'm sure you know that's cancelled when you select out-of-phase, which basically turns the singles played together into a humbucker, but with an interesting twist (the quack?) since the coils are far enough apart to be picking up different vibration patterns of the strings. Similar to middle position on a Tele or positions 2 & 4 on a Strat, and my P90 Special is also wired with pickups out-of-phase in the middle switch position. My default positions on those guitars then I switch to one of the single-coils for 'that' sound. Lovely Mustang but as another viewer commented, I could do without the stripes, especially since they're just a bit crooked. Surprising to see that on an MIJ Fender, I'd expect the stripes to be perfectly aligned. Thanks Jon, really enjoyed this brother.

Hi Jonathan, a sweet, simply designed, smooth instrument worthy of a beginner as you mentioned. I think I would have preferred to lose the red stripes and have it as all white. It would also have looked good with some gold bling. Nice review and playing. Cheers ✌️🎸💜

@@JonIsJustTooLoud So it's worth the 300-400$ premium it costs over the Pacifica? I really like the features of this guitar, especially the compound radius fretboard and the "quick" humbucker switch, and you can't beat Japanese workmanship but I love the Rupert Neve pickup sound, oh man .....what a hard choice...:)

Could hear something off? Hpl,not my cup of tea.nice playing, but so many quality guitars out there, that are all: either solid wood guitars, or solid tops with great quality laminated back and side's, of same or different woods, don't get sucked in by the Martin thing, they aren't the same as they used to be.

I got a thing for EMG pickups. They retain clarity and they sound good clean and dirty. For a strat, the SA set with a SPC and a VLPF active tone control gives amazing sounds. I have that in a 78 strat, replaced the body with a one piece warmoth swamp ash body decades ago. It's one of the best sounding guitars I have. Very inspiring to play. The EMG passive tone control is terrible though since it affects the volume and bass as well, I find it pretty much unusable. Go for the a VLPF tone control and it's a bingo ;) Got a 89X and 89XR in a Carvin DC400 anniversary from the 90s and those are seriously high fidelity sounding. Finally I have a 89 and SA in a Warmoth soloist build. Thinking to try a MF set in a Jackson USA Soloist next. I actually love EMG clean sounds when using a active tone control,. The sterile argument is total BS lol. I play mostly clean or with a bit overdrive to push the amp and emg's are anything but sterile. It's all subjective of course, depending what your ear is trained to as "good" sounding but objectively, for me, active pickups kick passive pickups out of the pond :)

Hi Jon! I recently came across your channel while researching the VT-1. Your chops are sweet! Have you considered switching out that graphite nut with an LSR roller nut? My American Deluxe came stock with the locking tuners and the LSR. Needless-to-say, consider the roller nut. My Strat plays like my Charvel with the FR original trem. Great videos mate! 🙏🔑✌️🇮🇱
