Diffusing my hair even with the long prongs causes frizz. I need to use a colander to block a lot of the air so it's more of a heat dry method. Wavy hair here!

Hi Gena, I've tried styling on soaking wet hair , but I've learned from you to style on damp hair and to spray water on my hair to evenly dampen it. You're right - that works better for my low density, thin hair. Thank you for ALL your helpful tips!

I’m almost 73, and I really didn’t realize my hair was actually curly until about a year ago. I’m still trying to figure out the best routine for my hair and your suggestions make so much sense to me! Especially about styling my hair damp instead of soaking wet, and not necessarily needing a leave in conditioner with a rinse out conditioner.

Thank you for the great advice. I have noticed my thinning hair can get over moisturized easily and the curls don't last

You talked about it already but if I over-scrunch my hair will be frizzy and stringy spaghetti curls. Every once in. While I get distracted and over-scrunch and then I’m mad.

I appreciate this video because diffusing upside down too long doesn't work for me either. One method I keep seeing that doesn't work for me is doing my hair in 2 sections. I need to do it in 3.

Love your videos! I think some content creators just refer to hair oil and don’t always get specific with types. I have low density high porosity and it doesn’t like anything with coconut oil. Anything with coconut oil (condition leave in) and my hair looks stringy and awful but, my hair doesn’t mind jojoba oil.

I also realize that soaking wet hair did not work for my thinner 2C type hair. Thanks for confirming that for me. Loved this video so much!!

Your videos are so helpful! I’ve just discovered them and I’ve spent so much money on products I didn’t need (leave in conditioners and oils thinking that would help with frizz and being dry). I’m also amazed at the spritzing with water. I always thought that would just make it frizzier. I live near the coast in Texas and it’s always humid.

I appreciate how you differentiated between dry frizz & not enough hold frizz. 1st time I have heard about that in the curly community, thank you. Guess I will be trying to focus on the dryness now, but I need help & wonder if others have similar struggles as I do. I have come across conflicting & incomplete info on hair "dryness" so I would love to understand it better. I have very long fine wavy, I think 2b, hair with a lot of damage at the ends that I think is primarily due to the absence of trims or cuts in way to long. I wash once a week. Trying to combat the dryness, in my current routine I will use a cowash until needing to clarify. I alternate between protein & moisturizing deep conditioning. Hair seems to love the protein more. However, even when doing the cowash & moisturizing routine, my hair still feels like it needs more moisture or hydration or slip after the leave-in so I also add a curl cream. I have tried MANY different products, wet vs damp styling, & various application methods but I still end up with frizz from the outset. Day 2 it's very much like you described as the dry frizz. Since my hair is fine I have mostly tried for more lightweight products cuz I don't want to end up with limp hair, but even the heavier products don't seem to address the dryness. Do I just go heavier & stop being scared or are there better products/methods for me to try?

The one thing that just hadn't worked for me was the very wet hair, before adding products... some even suggesting to do it in the shower... thank you for showing me why it doesn't work for my hair ❤. Also, styling upside down! I have a bad back 😔. Merry Christmas 🤶

i have heard mixed reviews of the prose gel but your results came out so good similar to when you would use the ouidad gel! I find sectioning does not work for my hair at all as you can actually see the lines when its dry. And I would say i have medium density hair since its not super easy to see my scalp but my hair is also wavy so not as much curl

I'm 61, and it's only in the last few months that i have finally decided to embrace my curly hair instead of fighting it. I am still trying to find the styling methods, products, and hair care routine that works best for me. Thank you for your content and suggestions.

I have noticed people scrunching in products, and I have tried it and it definitely doesn't work on my hair at all. I love brush styling, but it takes so long with my high density hair.

Your direction is so clear. Thank you. I know now that I've been using waaay too much moisture on my curls. I stopped using ghost oil and that really helped. Then one day I eliminated the curl cream under the gel. Even better. Then in refresh day I lightly sprayed and added a tiny bit of gel. Wow! It looked better than wash day. So your hint to micro plop and add a bit of gel is going to be perfect, I'm sure. I just never thought of it. Can't wait to try it. Thank you!

GenaMarie I do have a question I got very upset because I feel like the special brush is pulling my hair out. It’s not knotty but if I style by scrunching I do not lose this amount of hair. Being a baldy I don’t want to be pulling out hair. What do you think? Karen 🇦🇺 oh yes I have to style upside down -obviously not when I’m using the brush and I think you’re amazing

Hi Gina wish I would have caught this live. I have a question. Is it possible for your hair to get used to a certain gel ? Then when you change it the hair acts up not liking it ?

This was spot on for the don’t side ! I actually learned from you on how to simplify my routine and it has worked wonders! Many videos I see typically pile on the products such as heat protectant , curling cream , mousse , gel , and then oil. I now am to the point where I can tell when I need to couple mousse and gel together however I have opted for the more simplified approach and it has been a game changer ! Oh and also damp styling ! I use to style with soaking wet hair and now that I switched I have seen such huge improvement in my curl definition and volume. ❤ Gena you are a gem 💎

Love your videos! You've given so many wonderful tips that I can actually use with my fine, low density hair. I always see people soaking wet styling and layering so many products. Which I definitely tried at the beginning of going back to my curls. And definitely did not work for me. Thank you for all the hard work you do educating about curly hair! 😊

My medium density, low porosity hair takes hours on end to dry. I’ve added the microplopping, which helps, but it still literally takes hours to dry.

There is soooo much you said that is helpful to me with my low density hair! It doesn't work for me to style upside down, to plop after styling, to style soaking wet - all of those tips I got from you and made such a difference in how my hair looks. I also section before applying gel rather than applying the gel by scrunching it in. I can't wait to try sectioning the crown and styling it back. I"ve been pulling it more forward and I'm changing that for certain. Thank you for all of the great information! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Having a looser curl pattern and being low density, most of the curly hair methods don’t work for me but I modify some to make it work. I struggle with upright styling because I’ve always styled upside down- I was an 80s teenager, we invented upside down styling lol. I’d like to get better at upright styling and adding in some brush styling as well.
