I just bought a Bernina 117 at a trift shop for 30 euro. Seems to be working just fine. I never heard about Bernina, and neither did my mother who used to run a sewing atelier back in the 90s, but after doing some research I'm glad that it didn't scare me away 😂 The marking on the chassis is plain 117, no K or L. It has no motor, manual operation only. Came in a nice cabinet with a bunch of accessories. I wonder if it can stich thick leather? There is no motor anyway, and the mechanics seems to be heavy duty, so it should be okay?

One time , some time ago back i bough a cheap new Brother sewing machine , i got it home set it up & it started smoking , i had return it to the store & it was all plastic , these vintage sewing machines are great beauties & a whole different ball field , i tell ya , i sure dont have much trouble out of them what so ever , i got me a very nice vintage White 977 pacifically made for denim , which i am a big fan of , corduroy , twills , gabardines as well , but more of a denim person , if you are a sewer & then decide to stop 🛑 , you will die , can't ever stop 🛑😊

I was setting up a machine for someone who sewed light weight silk. As a test I was attempting to sew thin, single layer, silk. I found that one needle would not perform while a different brand was successful. Although I couldn't see a difference between the two. Ronn

I run a fleet of Consew 206RB-5s at work. I'm looking at one of these as a home workshop, goof-around machine. Just can't take my girlfriend's plastic thing seriously. I'm worried I won't get along with it without the knee lift and ability to go full speed in reverse.

I would greatly appreciate if you could explain the little red plastic piece on the shuttle. I have a Baycrest Model 501 with the exact same piece and the manual refers to it as a "shuttle thread ejector" which "prevents jamming of the shuttle". The little notch on the metal shuttle on which the red plastic piece fits seems unique too. This Janome is the first machine I have seen with that same part. Note identical machines to the Baycrest I have went by other brand names: Imperial, International and St. James are three others that I have found.

Great video! have just had this model machine repaired and serviced in UK. It was my mum’s and I learnt to sew in it when I was 10. It’s wonderful! I was curious in the manual it shows a dial with numbers on the top directly above the foot, but mine has the silver knob on the top like yours. Can you advise what this is and how to use it? I’m worried I turned it and I shouldn’t have touched it. Thank you! Genine

I have a Singer 301A, that I’m trying to find what ruffler will fit it. I pulled four different ruffles out yesterday and none of them seemed to fit on there. Do you have a specific part number for the correct ruffler for a slant machine?

I have a vintage Kenmore from the 1970s. I sewed on it yesterday morning and it worked beautifully. Suddenly it stopped sewing forward. It sews backward just fine but when i try to sew forward it looks like the feed dogs move one stitch forward and one stitch back causing it to sew in place. What can i do to fix that? I feel like it's something simple.

i have that rheostat foot pedal but its missing the first wire coil and the pedal jumps from off to high speed. is it possible to replace the coil? the pedal looks like its in good condition otherwise. the missing coil is not inside the pedal, it must have fallen out or someone might have removed it.

I hope you see this in December 2024 lol. I just bought this machine. But it didn’t have any extras, just the foot it came with. I was hoping in the video you would talk about whether or not this model makes buttonholes. I think it was supposed to come with a buttonholer attachment made of plastic with templates, so I’d like to find that. I saw another video that talked about a buttonholer that was made of two metal plates, plus metal templates that the KZbinr liked better. Do you know that buttonholer and if it works on this? Also, I’d like to buy some feet, e.g. … Walking foot, Quilters 1/4” foot, Stitch in the Ditch foot, Zipper Foot. Know where I can buy those? I hope you see this. I’ll copy/paste this to see if I can find your email or a more recent video of yours. I hope. Thanks so much for the great video:)

I have a sewing table (sears 566) that at one time held a Janome 393. I’m not sure how though? The cabinet and machine had been separated and now I have both and would like to put the machine back in. However there are no hinge pins, never have been. There is no sign of where they would be either so I’m assuming it was not made with them. I can not find the cabinet anywhere online so I have zero reference. Please advise as to a direction I should go :(

I just bought a 201K-3 a week ago from an online auction that no one seemed to want. I paid $11 plus tax and fees so $14.61 total. It came with a box of accessories including a bunch of hemmers and feet and buttonholer, even a Singer screwdriver. It was filthy, covered in old oil and lint. I used an automotive polish/wax which makes it gleam and I did a thorough cleaning and oiling and it just hums, such a beautiful macine. The decals are perfect and no needle rash. Dropped in a bobbin and thread and it sews perfectly. I am giving it to my daughter for Christmas
