Hello, I'm from medical student from Indonesia, previously I really enjoyed and glad the video and material you presented previously. So can we talk for a moment and if you allow could you share some of the literature that you read to create this discussion

Although these videos are old, I really appreciate them as they are helping me to try and retain all this information for my Sports Med ll. The charts are a lot and the information can be more repetitive making it confusing with slides & book reading on what to remember specifically. Thank you!

How is it about stationary "linear" DC? Is it true that it doesn't stimulate (trigger action poentials) neurons at all?

No it can be used for things in Physical Therapy like pain management, contraction of muscle (something the CNS functioning normally should do on it’s own) to keep it from degenerating or to try to keep it from getting worse, all kinds of things related to muscles and the nervous system.

huh? how does adipose tissue have alot of water?... it's only about 10% water.... it's not recommended over thicker adipose layers because it wouldn't be as effective compared to it's use over muscle tissue....which has a greater content of water

poly-phasic would be where there were 2 or more signal lines plus an optional ground lead and each signal line would be producing a bi-phasic signal with a different start point the every day example of a poly-phase signal would be a 3 phase mains power source or 3 phase generator or alternator. poly-phase does not mean a continuous bi-phasic signal like you stumbled it defining it. USUALLY in poly-phasic system the phase angle difference between the bi-phasic signal lines signals is 360 degrees divided by the number of bi-phasic lines and 120 degrees for a 3 phase system or 180 degrees for a 2 phase system. The key point in a poly-phase system is there does not NEED to be a common ground and the current will flow between the individual phases and not normally flow to ground unless there is an imbalance in one of the phases load.

Hi, Demetrios. I just saw that you are interested in biphasic stimulation. I am also working on a similar project. Could you please share your experience with me regarding this. Did you manage to find a working schematic? Regards Arsalan [email protected]

biphasic pulsed is normally produced by inverting the original pulse signal and driving an identical output stage like a complimentary output circuit. The circuit should also have the ability to produce a both ON or both OFF condition to disable current flow. Current flows between the electrical connections when there is a difference in signal voltage either one is higher and the other is lower voltage or visa versa. You can change it to modified sine-wave by driving a transformer from the bridged complimentary drivers and the output will be a crude approximation somewhere between a biphasic square wave and an AC sinewave it will allow you to get much higher voltages from a low voltage circuit too. AND cautions is advised when testing such circuits that you should well connect electrodes to non-cardiac affecting parts of the body using a conductive gel or other media AND start at the lowest signal level to determine effective signal duration, frequency and amplitude.

Hello Dr. Your videos are awesome. I am a Cathodic Protection specialist and can follow you class here online. I have recently had spinal fusion L4,L5,S1 for Degenerative Spondilosysthis. Post surgery report said nerve damage at l5, s1. This is not a surprise as my calves (gastroc) on both legs are super weak. I have ordered my own Tens/Nmes/Rus unit for home rehab. Question Sir. Assuming I am using a rehab modality, how often per day may one use stim for neromusclular re-education purposes? 2x a day? Max mins or hours??? At this point 7 months from surgery my left gastroc is a major chore to even get to flex. Any help is appriciated.
