This may only be applicable in light to moderate wind... and still personally would fold up not any slower than shown in this video starting from each end. With big inflation valves these days, folding is a breeze. Should not take longer than 1 minute. And yes, one should not pack the kite tight. Kite needs to breathe whilst being in a bag. Folding it so neatly does not make any sense or has any benefits (apart from taking less space, which I understand if one is preparing for a trip on plane for example).
@bbanl2 жыл бұрын
You obviously haven't tried. We fold this way for over 14 years now. Also in gale force winds of 40-50 knots. But then with smaller kites although my son uses his 9m in those winds to get up high and that works also fine if you know how. Obviously we don't always fold the kites as tight but on a 12 day downwinder when I pack 7 kites space counts. By the way, this method works like a charm in rainy conditions when your kite is wet and you want to pack it sand free: one person deflated the kite the other holds one tip. The person who deflated the kite folds the top tip downwind on top of the other tip so the person holding the lower tip can grab it. That person starts folding or rolling the kite along the leading edge without the kite touching the sand until he reaches the other person. Then he grabs the trailing ege en folds it 3x. This also works in 50 knots 😁
@anthonylanden65522 жыл бұрын
@@bbanl Yes, I certainly have not tried. But unless you kite with somebody, I won't dare ask other people to fold my kite.... However this would be a good show to wathc in +35knots conditions. (I would prefer watching though). It would not make any harm to make similar/same video once the wind is very strong and share with us all.

Just started getting into to the sport. What happened here? Was he not ready for the wave and it forcibly bent his knee or was that from wave impact alone?
@bbanl2 жыл бұрын
I wanted to use the wave as a ramp for my jump. The waves were quite big and my timing was off and I was too eager to jump. The wave broke just before got to the top of the wave so the top part of the wave crashed just below my knee (impact to the outside of the knee as a kitesurfer rides sideways). While I was going up the wave wirh 30km/h the a thick water column hit just below my knee bending my lower leg sideways instead of backwards as the joint bends. So I tore my ligaments in my knee. I should have bailed out by pulling up my legs last minute when I saw that the wave was starting to break. I am very aware of this as waves have a lot of power and can hit your board and twist your knees as you are stuck in your straps
@solarmagister2 жыл бұрын
I learned to Get my foot very quickly off the straps before la ding proper jumps. If I feel that a nasty landing is going to happen, I have this reflex to let the board go. Glad you re OK.

@@bbanl Thanks for the reply! In reference to line mounts. I purchased a Noir Matter Quark and line mount. the gimbal (Quark) is awesome and horizontal stabilisation is the best I've come across - up until it got wet and then stopped working! How do you get the air so fast from all of the struts? I always need to wait and push so hard to get it out
@bbanl3 жыл бұрын
Depends per kite. With Slingshot the air comes out really easily. WIth Ozone Edge kites the middle strut is always an issue as the tube folds double. Just make sure the tube that connects to the strut is not folded if your kite has that issue

Nice, basically fold it like I've been folding my foils for 10 years :) Can you also show me in 45kt, as this is super fun lol
@bbanl4 жыл бұрын
Actually yes. that also works as the kite is small. Try folding a kite in 45 knots like most people do; first one half to the middle and then the other. Big chance of getting into trouble. It’s actually most tricky with a big kite which you fold after the wind picks up. Then you need to be careful that the kite doesn’t catch wind when you start folding the tips.

Hi Sven, thx for your reply! I wasn't aware that this line.mount was available and ordered it right away. I guess it should work fine, a bit depending on the flangout system of your kite. Looking forward to use this line mount!
@bbanl4 жыл бұрын
And to answer your first question; no. I just switch the gopro on and start kiting. I found that the remote om the gopro hero5 with Linr mount was not that reliable and annoying if it doesn't work flawlessly. Also, when I bought the Max, it didn't officially support a remote so I didn't want to buy one and get frustrated.

I thought the Hero 8 had horizon leveling as well?
@bbanl5 жыл бұрын
Ramses Very good point Ramses! But the two horizon leveling features are quite different. With the Max, it records directly with a straight horizon in 1080p 60fps. You can rotate the cam but the horizon stays straight. With the Hero 8, the footage out of the camera will be rotated. In the Gopro app you can straighten the footage in post processing but the end result will be cropped. They therefore recommend to film in 3:4 vs 16:9 to get the least cropping. Still a great feature for the Hero8 but definitely not as advanced as with the Max. With the Hero8 you can shoot in higher resolution and frame rate.
