Aravinda De Silva, Inzamam ul haq, Rahul Dravid, Damien Martyn, Jack Kallis I grew up watching all those solid one down reliable inning builders. still remember watching Aravinda De Silva's innings in the world cup final 1996 at Lahore stadium, Pakistan against Australia. Wonderful final; Watched it live during 9th Standard Annual Exams; Eventhough SriLanka beat India 2 times in the 1996 WC; I was supporting SriLanka due to the fearless cricket and "Attack is the best defence". Shud have included the winning shot and celebrations as well. Hats off to Arjuna Ranatunga who transformed a team that was nothing infront of the major cricketing nations and promoted a bowler and wicket keeper as openers and Roshan Mahanama (actual opener) coming at #7

If he had one supporting batsman on the other side just protecting that end he would've completed this match as a win for the SL. Unfortunately, he didn't get any support. Jayasuriya is not well averaged against Aussies. But Aravinda never feared the Australian team even at the end of his career. This Australian team was the best in World Cup history and still, they are the best against any of the currwnt teams of the world.

They should have stopped the match. It was a swamp but match refrees decided and insisted. Look at the dismissal of Jayasuriya. Ball bounced just 6 inches off the pitch.
