These were designed by Tony Bruno of Bruno Amps, I'm not sure if he had anything to do with other incarnations using the Night Train name. The new ones came with a gig bag and a speaker cable. Seven hundred might have been list but mine ran about $475-550 in the day at Sam Ash. Very legit design and build, mine fell off the bumper as I pulled out on my way to band practice without signs of damage, except a bag scuff. For me I would run it pentode with gain and volume in the same spots you had them during pentode demo portion of this video. It'll match drums and a 4x10 bass rig ay that level with no need to push any limits. In my opinion this is the one you want and the 'lil night train and the larger one didn't quite nail it like this one did. It's like Goldivox, its just right! Good to see some deserving love for these builds!

This series 1 DSL like this sounds far better than the newer DSL CR series.. Ive tried the new one in various stores and it just sounds unrealistic like a bad pedal IMO.. Both the crunch and classic gain channels on the original sound killer !
@RayPlaysGuitar2 күн бұрын
I got a similar impression when I tried the CR, just didn't quite have the same mojo. It got better when I turned the master volumes all the way up, but if that's what you have to do to get it sound good then why have the master volume at all. Thanks for watching!

Thank you so much for this lesson. Eric Gales is such an incredible player. He puts an end to the idea that "theory kills creativity" or "playing fast has no feel". Gales can do it all and has so much emotion in his playing that every song is like a rollercoaster.

KISS was the first band that I really got into as a kid. I would grab a tennis racket and "play along" to KISS Alive II. But when I started playing guitar I was a few years older and "too cool" for KISS at that point, so I never really learned any KISS songs growing up, so I'm really enjoying going back and learning these songs from my youth. Shouldn't it specify if it's a 6th below or above? ( ex in c, 6th note of scale is a, but it's m.i.a.).😊
@RayPlaysGuitar2 күн бұрын
In this video, I am thinking about sixths as inverted thirds. Going from C up to E is a major 3rd. Now take that E and drop it an octave and now you have a 6th. So now E is a 6th below C and C is a sixth above E. Just keep in mind that C to E is a major 3rd, but E to C is a minor 6th.

As someone who builds loudspeakers for a hobby, the tonewood argument is beyond laughable in regards to electric guitars. Its also lacks merit even with acoustics, because the shape and internal volume of the enclosure will dictate the tone, not the type of wood or material. Hence the growing popularity in carbon fiber acoustic guitars and violins. If only electric guitar makers would focus on better setups and fret work and less on tonewood, buyers would be happier with their high priced guitar purchases.

I hit the like button, the moment i realized it was the hybrid picking of 6th intervals, that made the SWEET MOTHER Song a hit. An old song that hit millions of records selling. Can't thank you enough, for explaining stuff about the Minor 6th and major 6th intervals, and every other way you spiced my understanding. I hit the subscribe button too. Could you please do a tutorial on SWEET MOTHER? It will pull in so many viewers from another part of the world. One last thing; So o many POPULAR African songs engage the use of the 6th intervals. I came to learn it herr, because i wanted to unravel the mystery of the very currently popular song titled "Gwo gwo gwo'n gwo." Its something else. An old song flavored by a youngstar, but it gets the continent afire, dancing. Id love you do a tuts on it, too. The guitarist mixed many 6ths intervals in the piece. Thanks again and God bless you.. . Thanks again

For fun, I recorded a metal track on my 335. It sounds exactly like the metal tracks I recorded with a Solar, and ESP, and a Jackson. 335 has Burstbuckers, Solar has Duncans, ESP has EMG's, and the Jackson has Jackson branded pups. Sound is barely even in the pups. Its in the amp model, the mix, the speakers, the mic... I get it, we spend a LOT on a guitar, and we REALLLLLY want that flame maple top, or Ebony fretboard, or mahogany body to mean something... but it just doesnt. All the songs are on my channel if you want to guess what was recorded on what guitar.
@williamnasser7846Ай бұрын
Thank you for this. I have been playing for close to 30 years, all self taught. I play 6ths without even knowing what they were, but sometimes as I bring them up the fretboard, they’d get lost between the “single” and “doubles”. Whoops wrong one, I guess it’s not really a wrong note if you play it twice. 😂
@ScottyArnoldАй бұрын
Sounds so good! Great lesson. Half way through I realized I have been playing them already but thought they were called 3rds because it’s the 1 and the 3 of the chord in the diatonic scale. I am a little confused why they are 6th intervals? Is it because going from the 3rd up to the 8(root) is 6 notes up? Thanks!

Enjoyed hearing the back story with the demonstration. Those illuminated rocker switches fail after being snapped one-too-many times. Doesn't happen to all of them, but the ones that fail likely have broken leads, very much like how reverb tanks fail from the thin wire flexing over time. They are tricky to repair but I was able to open one, re-solder the tiny lamp lead to the terminal, reassemble it - and it's held up well. Having seen the unsupported lamp inside one of these things I've developed the habit of not snapping any lighted rocker switches. By maintaining constant thumb pressure as the switch rolls the the opposite position it doesn't jolt the lamp which, after many operations, case hardens the micro-fine lamp wire causing it to become brittle enough to break at the point where it meets the contact.
@RayPlaysGuitar18 күн бұрын
That's a great tip on rolling the switches. Thanks for that and thanks for watching!

I don't know anything except that my 'cheap' guitar (squier tele) has kind of a crappy sound whether it's plugged in or not. And my 'expensive' guitar (epiphone LP) sounds better both plugged in and not. Maybe it's not the 'wood' per se, but something else in the construction of the instrument. I don't know. But for clean tones I think there is some kind of tone wood influence.

Take a boss equalizer pedal. Use it on the clean channel. Now you can make it do clean Hiwatt tones. I think that is amazing besides the channels that are present. It is a amplifier that does great in the living room and great in clubs. If you do mainstages use two. It's that good.
