I saw this tour in Chicago at Lounge Ax-I stood directly in front of Joan Wasser and remember being completely mesmerized by her on that violin. She was otherworldly. I like Joan As Police woman, but she was so badass with that violin.

Why can’t anyone admit that The Replacements never really achieved stardom because they just weren’t quite good enough? They were almost there, just not quite there. It is what it is.

Dave Kendall used to hang out at the bar Exit in Chicago. One night we took him back to the place he was staying. During the ride he took off his shoes and threw up in his sock. A couple of days later he called my girlfriend and asked if he could get his sock back. It was hilarious.

What a wonderful recording of a wonderful band. It's great to hear the power of these songs live in smaller space. Even as a relatively young band back then, their sound is so big you can easily imagine them and their show in bigger spaces. I won tickets to this tour a few days(?) later in Seattle and saw them in a similar venue (Neumo's). It was the best present I could have asked the radio gods for, unforgetable!! I kept my ticket stub in my Funeral CD all these years until it was stolen. I'll always remember that show, and this recording sounds just as amazing --thank you!!

This isn't normal band member vibe. This is older brother younger brother gang stuff. There's a natural pecking order and it's them against the world. It's tight.

I saw them on the first stop on the tour at UC Davis Freeborn Hall with the Posies. They opened the show with the Marine Corp Hymn..."Let The Bombings Begin!" replacementslivearchive.blogspot.com/2013/12/january-15-1991-freeborn-hall-uc-davis.html

I met one of the guys from Mary’s Danish at a gas station in Maryland in 1992. He was in line buying a large beer and an apple. I asked “Where’s Mary?” and he said “She’s in the bathroom.”

Flippin' Out was by far, the best album of 1994. Every song on that LP was a masterpiece. Where I Find My Heaven was a power pop classic and glad they had a minor hit with it being on the Dumb and Dumber soundtrack. Figurine and Cope were my personal faves. Love the Aunts!

I know how taxing it may be performing live especially if youre not in a so great state of mind. Of course this is just a way to put it, of course this is all euphemism Just a way to convey a much wider array of contrived contradictory dictator shall we call it dismay

What a great interview! I forgot Chris Mars had a solo career before he retired and became a painter. Also that run from Let It Be to Pleased To Meet Me was great for The ‘Mats, I’m glad those are his favorite records. He was very critical to the sound of the band.
