D thanks for playing Rhode Island’s best. They had 9 top 100 songs in the 80’s. Darkside #7, CITY #18 while Tough All Over and their best song, Tender Years we’re top 40 hits. A Greatest Hits CD was released in 2022. They still tour the country every year and a new album will be out in 2025. Carry on...

MTV banned that version of the video. They played 2 clean versions of the videos. They also had top 40 mainstream radio airplay hits with Two Tribes, Power of Lover and Welcome to The Pleasure Dome.

Relax was their first ever single. It was voted the greatest UK number 1 of all time by the British public. Quite an accolade considering the Beatles etc. Two Tribes was their second single and went straight in at number 1 where it stayed for 9 weeks and summer 1984 was the “summer of Frankie”. While Two Tribes was number 1, Relax rose back up the charts to number 2 so Frankie had the top two spots in the UK and “Frankie mania” hit the UK Two Tribes was the better of the 2 songs. An anti war song which was a faster song with a driving baseline. An absolute masterpiece. The video had Ronald Reagan and Konstantin Chernenko fighting in a sand pit surrounded by a baying crown. How wars should be settled! All to Mark O’Tools driving baseline. I’d love you to react to it. It premiered in the UK after midnight and the whole of the UK stayed up to watch it such was the hype surrounding it. If you do react to it you need to rest to the destructo version. It’s called Two Tribes Destructo and is the version that was first shown in the UK after midnight. Lovely reaction. Cheers!

And I need to add that Frankie goes to Hollywood’s 3rd single “the power of love” (not a cover song) also got to number 1 and Frankie were the first band since Jerry and the pacemakers to have their 1st 3 singles all reach the top of the charts

I just recently saw an interview with Randy Bachman and he was telling about how this song was never intended to be what it became. He was telling how he wrote the song and sang it that way because he was making fun of his brother who stutters.

BTO are icons! Love them so much. He wrote this as a joke. His brother (the drummer) stutters and this was not supposed to be put out, but it did, and it was a huge hit for them! Check out Boston's More than a Feeling, it is awesome! Love your reaction!
