I'm confused, so if the share price is 54 bucks and they're paying out a percentage of 9.45 percent per share, how is that only .30 something cents or .60 something cents? This video is one year old and the share price of this stock is still the same and the 30 day yield is 9.45%.. 9.45% of 54.00 is $5.10.. what am I missing here..

Bit harsh, but my honest opinion is if you bought BRK-b and sat on your butt you would have been safer and made more money. You are -4.5% down over S&P 500gold standard in same time frame. No one beats it but still...BRK-b fund is 45% AAPL. Your stocks are just too complex to self manage. Pick 4 stocks and do 60/40 or 80/20 with S&P 500 and keep learning. I am bit older and reached 500k mark. I made only one bad mistake. Hopefully you make small ones.

An interesting option to consider is Raisin. Basically, Raisin acts as a middleman for HYSAs, CDs, and no-penalty CDs from a number of regional banks and federal credit unions. The consumer is not charged any fees for the service. As of 6/24/2024, there’s an HYSA at 5.30% APY, 1-3 month CDs at 5.34% APY, and a 4-month no-penalty CD at 5.20% APY. All deposits are FDIC/NCUA insured. It’s a no-frills operation, i.e., you don’t get checks or a debit card. You simply move money between your preferred external bank and the Raisin platform, and from there, you can invest in any of the advertised instruments. What’s nice about this is that you don’t have to sign up for accounts at any of the members banks… it’s all managed by Raisin behind the scenes.

I bought 1000 shares of YMAX on June 10th for $20.24 per share. I have received $730 in dividends of which I will have to pay $219 in taxes, leaving me with $511. Meanwhile i have lost $1090 on the NAV for a total loss of $579...if i sold out today. If the YMAX NAV continues to deteriorate all I see ahead is losses. I did DRIP the $730 in dividends so I now have 1037 shares of YMAX. What am I missing? If the NAV stays the same it will take 3 years to actually pay back the $20,000 with the current dividend although i might get additional dividends from the DRIP which would lessen the 3 years. How is this a good investment?
@drewyoung2102Ай бұрын
Never chase a rally with euphoria. SMH took 18 months to break even few years back. I like fund selection but they are often watered down too much. We all want just the top ten in most cases. BRKB is very safe and 45% apple as a clear reference.

Nicely done Davis… simply elegant! I love using ETFs & MFs as investment building blocks, and constructed something very similar using XLK/XLV/XLE in one of my mini-portfolios. I enriched the tech sector with SOXX to place a special emphasis on semiconductors, and also included a bit of XLRE for real estate exposure. So that’s five ETFs, of which four are State Street SPDR products and one is from BlackRock iShares. Out of curiosity, which portfolio modeling tools do you use?
