my instructions say to put on arm rests, then back rest. I think I will follow your instructions as it seems a better way to align the holes. I have all the parts, now to put it together!

my chair isn't the same as the one in the video - no form on the back to connect to the base, so very difficult to line up the arm rests to the back as one person. takes two people to avoid stripping screws and to get. the screws into the right hole.

Question: So if you want your chair to be able to tilt, do you just leave the lock lever out -- don't push it back in? Or, is there a way to set the lock so that your chair is in a stable, fixed, chosen degree of tilt? I've been trying for 15 minutes now to set the amount of tilt of my chair to a desired angle and just KEEP IT THERE by engaging the lock, but that is not happening. My choices seem to be either upright, with the lock locked, or in motion, with the lock unlocked.

Glad I found this. My chair was tensioned so tight I thought the lever that pushes in for "Free" and out for "Lock" was broken, but it was just tensioned so much I couldn't tilt back. Now I can after undoing this knob all the way out. It's still a bit too tight though! Oh well... I know they loosen a bit naturally over time, with use.
