I’m not defending Dallas Jenkins but, he does have a Messianic Rabbi who contributes to the show as well. When I was watching it I heard Dallas say that this Rabbi completely disagreed with how Simon Peter was portrayed in the first couple episodes…he was portrayed as completely disregarding the commands of the Torah. Which the Rabbi said Peter would not have done. Yes, it brought more “drama” to the show but, to disregard someone who knows the culture, that is wrong. I don’t watch anymore.

People are deceptive.. they dont even know how deceptive the human heart is.. People project their own heart unto God.. Yet it was the serpent who deceived Eve to not take God at His exact word.. and because man ate of a tree that gives knowledge of GOOD and EVIL, mankind interprets EVERYTHING according to THIS knowledge.. instead of truth.. and it is death, just as was declared by God.

As Christians why argue, debate etc. let’s just allow the Bible to guide us “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-think about such things.” Most Christians watch things that are NOT true, noble or holy. Let’s follow the Biblical council and stop being hypocrites.

I made it to season 3 and when I saw Roumies face flash across my mind when praying, I put the Chosen down for good. I saw in an interview that their proposed next project is the book of ACTS....But since the LDS Church is funding it, would the next one after ACTS, be the Book of Mormon? Like it's all one story?

A big problem is that these people don't have clue #1 of what the Bible really says but they have whatever pastor fill-in-the-blank said over and over, adhereing to their denominational blindness, about the Bible. They don't know what it says so they absorb everything they are told/shown which happens to be distorted on purpose by these people. Fans of The Chosen would look at you cross-eyed if you told them about the director or that Jonathan Roumie is a catholic mystic doing grave soaking on Lonnie Frisbee's grave before he played him in "The Jesus Movie".

I am thankful that I only watched a small portion of the chosen when it first came out because it really did start to form my perspective of Jesus in a way that He is NOT portrayed in scripture! When you stay in the word, the Holy Ghost living in you will warn you when wrong stuff comes along!

I agree with you Pastor Spencer in what you say. Imo the chosen isn't necessarily about Jesus, its about the disciples and the people around Jesus. There are many different characters with various flaws that the audience can relate to. We are all fallen sinful beings in need of Christ's salvation, and to see one of these characters grow and come to repentance is pretty inspiring. The show also depicts the enemies of Jesus Christ in his day and the measures they go to in order to stop his preaching and influence. This series is meant to be viewed by secular people, with no spiritual insight, in order to bring them to the light and learn more about our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. I remember back in the day when Christians were praising the movie 'The Passion of The Christ' as being one of the best portrayals of Jesus Christ's crucifixion..WRONG! It was one of the worst ever made. It contained biblical errors, added dialog and added scenarios that didn't exist in scripture. The problem with all of that is you take something that is literally 'God Breathed' and then add a bunch of fallen man made up stuff, which in the end, it nullifies the word of God and becomes a teaching of man! When it comes to making movies about the Bible, it's best to not do that and let scripture reveal itself to you by reading it!

I also take the Bible literally and when I've watched The Chosen catch when they're a little off from what the Bible says was said or done. I figured this was for theatrics and story line? I really do like The Chosen and how it sparked ppl ( including my dad, 80 ) to pay attention to their Bibles again. My dad was asking me questions, reading scripture before bed and still does....this has been a great thing. Not interested in watching anything olsten, copeland have to say as they are two of the wolves spoke about in the Bible 1,000% Sad when ppl worship this world and the ppl in it but it happens, always has....there is one pedestal with only room for one on it and that's Jesus the Christ, period. I do not believe the show I mentioned is 100% accurate and neither will yours be but I do pray God blesses you to make them and will watch with love and exitement. We weren't there and so some acting is required, I'd think?

But…you know the popes rewrote the bible…they changed names, dates, places, locations etc…original bible is almost a foot thick …not only that… they created Israel in 1948 to deceive people…added 1000 years to the calendar Rome destroyed magdala, they then murdered millions of women….what if Mary was Gods chosen and not Jesus? What if Mary had twins…Jesus and Mary Magdalene? What if John the Baptist was Mary’s younger brother, Uncle to Jesus..who claimed Mary’s inheritance…she was from the bloodline of King David ..as was Joseph Because of the Popes…we don’t know the real truth …. I stuttered and struggled through two seasons of The Chosen and can't watch anymore. It simply doesn't ring true. They present another Jesus and another gospel (2 Corinthians 11:3-4, Galatians 1:6-12) NOT the Biblical Jesus/Gospel.

I even hesitated to read from a children's Bible to my kids. Because it is a story someone told, based on the Bibel, but it is not the Bible. Therfore I never let my kids watch any cartoons for kids about the Bible and when the chosen was announced I knew, I will never watch it.

Spencer, what do you think about an audio drama of the Bible? Like a dramatic reader's theater style. There would be nothing visual but occasionally it would be hard to discern what the correct inflection should be. Like when Jesus told the woman to go and sin no more. Was it harsh or was it tender and loving? Do you think audio would be dangerous or just artistic interpretation?
