Could you do "What is duality"? I've watched this video with a friend who doesn't understand what non-duality is, and while I do, I can't explain it yet, it's too difficult.

The idea of spirituality is that heaven, nirvana or eternity (whatever you want to call it) is our ultimate reality and that the material realm is just an illusion. Everyone and everything will ultimately die in the material realm but our spirit and love are eternal. So in order to attain inner peace we need to seek first our treasures in the spiritual world rather than the material world which will all lead to death and suffering.

"Forgiveness recognizes there are no people because there is no world." ~ Top of the Hour with Corey Leland You have to really want to outgrow and escape. Hard to imagine that using "forgiveness" in traffic or in interpersonal interactions would be enough... You do have to be determined to want to "leave" the mortal identity in favor of Spiritual. And that takes using other things, situations, circumstances, conditions, as incentive... Look at the Workbook lesson "The world I see holds nothing that I want" It's not "negative" or "hating something about myself" to look at current events, or a "politician" and seeing the "status quo" in the dreamworld because you need that incentive...Really. To generate the required interest, energy, passion, dedication it takes to ascend... To outgrow the mortal sense and escape time/death... "If a man loves the world the love of Our Father is not in him." You have to want to leave...not 24/7 of course but in your practice periods. During the nighttime hours...laying in bed. You have to want to be Spirit Body night and day...to access the Grace that makes the "glad exchange." I listen to Gary and he gets much of it "right" but just to put in my two cents here... he puts too much emphasis on forgiving difficult individuals... and not enough on working to undo bodily identity from other directions...lol. Happiness and Peace. Put the allegorical apple back on the symbolic tree. ~ Top of the Hour with Corey Leland

Gary had a significant influence on me as a student of the Course, esp through DOTU, in which he was very faithful to the Course's teachings. However what he says about Jesus here in the "resurrection" segment was very puzzling and even a bit disturbing as it seems to go against much of the Course and even the basic premise that Jesus is the Source of the Course. Gary saying that Jesus became enlightened and then basically disappeared forever is difficult to understand, as is the idea of the resurrection being purely symbolic. Jesus says in one way or another in the Course that He is always with us. That he is the true author of the Course shows He did return to help his brothers and sisters. He speaks of overcoming death many times which I know has both literal and symbolic meaning in the text, but from my reading He did in fact make a demonstration of some sort that He did in fact accomplish this. Unlike David Hoffmeister Gary actually seems to be downplaying the importance of Jesus as he now rarely even mentions Him. I guess it's time for me to move on as this version of Gary doesn't fit right with my interpretation of the Course, though he still has many useful ideas as to how to practice its lessons.

I took his statement to mean that the belief that Jesus is going to have a second coming and physically return back into the world to save us all is an illusion. I don’t know if that is how he meant it, but that is how I perceived it…

We tried to make this channel non-denominational so actually asked Gary not to focus too much on ACIM or Jesus. I recommend you reach out to him directly to clarify terms as we can't respond on his behalf! However, we do know that there is no historical evidence Jesus died and came back from the dead etc. so the idea of the resurrection could be symbolism of someone overcoming the death of their ego and living fully in spirit.

Since young age I experienced a lot of emotional trauma and my mum never wanted to talk about my feelings. Even to this day she says there is no point and shows me my feelings are not valid. I started my own healing journey but I did distance myself from my family as they never shows any importance to how I feel. My mum doesn’t even believe in psychologist or therapy. I am going to get the book… I need to forgive and forget once for all. All people in my life betrayed me or used me and never truly appreciated me. I am changing all that ❤

A lot of people are afraid of introspection. They are terrified if they look within they will have to face all their guilt, shame and trauma. However ACIM claims that these are just illusions and our true reality is just love - we just can't see or experience it as long as we are in our ego mind.

I don’t understand something. Gary uses the Bible to point out that it says God is Perfect Love, but Gary also said that God didn’t create the earth - yet the Bible clearly says otherwise. If the Bible is unreliable, why pick and choose, why quote it at all? Thank you for the video. ❤️❤️❤️

There are beautiful truths in the Bible, and it's ok to question what doesn't seem right. God is perfect Love. Perfect Love doesn't burn people in an eternal fire of damnation to suffer forever and ever, especially if someone hasn't been taught about Jesus. The church uses the consequence of hell as a fear tactic to keep the money flowing in and guilt in the mind. Question everything! And keep the parts that make sense. God is Love 🙏

@@jennifermonahan4040 yes God is perfect love, however my point questions why “pick and choose” from a source and the disregard the rest. I’ve never been a fan of people who do that. Reminiscent of “religious people” “Bible thumpers.”

Thomas Jefferson cut and pasted the Bible into a very slim volume and had it published a long time after he passed away. There’s a lot of very deep profound truth in the Bible and there’s a lot of other stuff that if not irrelevant, is outdated, misunderstood and even incorrect. And how could it not be after 2000 years of the ego tweaking it?

@jvb6547 One needs to discern those teachings in the gospels that correspond with ACIM , and ignore what doesn't. The Bible has many fictions,, and contradictions, and could never be considered as one cohesive truth.
@kimbirch1202
@kimbirch1202 Ай бұрын
@jvb6547 The Bible thumpers NEVER quote the teachings of Jesus Christ, and ALWAYS pick and choose from other parts of the Bible. It is easy to find the teachings of Jesus which DO correspond with ACIM , and the point is to establish that he has always taught the same message.

Anyone with half a brain can explain the theory of ACIM, it’s about applying it which didn’t start off well in this video by making that facepalm description of the woman. It doesn’t matter how she looked, because bodies are an illusion. He stepped right into an ego turd from the start. 💩It wasn’t funny either. 🥳

I think Ken W said you have to stop seeing things as good stuff or bad stuff. The sunset is still an illusion and yourjudging it as good implies there are things that are bad. So as far as I have been taught that even seeing positive things still validates the negative and keeps you in the Dream. The idea is to extricate FROM the dream, not become enlightened IN the dream .... or isn't this accurate. Pretty sure David H and Keith Kavanaugh also teach it this way but this stuff is so elusive to the everyday mind that sometimes my mind just goes round and round in uncertainty.

The other night in my dream I saw a girl crying so I went over to her and started telling her that all this was a dream and if she wakes up, she won’t be upset anymore. Then suddenly a snake appeared and I was really scared. Then the girl said to me ‘this is just a dream, there’s nothing to fear’ but I ran away saying ‘I’m not at that level yet’ 🫠😅

Thank you for sharing! Snakes are very symbolic as they are the wisest creatures and pass on knowledge. They feature a lot in stories in the bible etc. The reason it is called a hero's journey because it is a quest to actually overcome our ego and see the Oneness. Very few people achieve it on a consistent basis. The lure of the material world is very potent. Good luck on your journey.

I've just realized in a deep level Joseph Campbell's Hero's Journey is a story about our own lives. Discovering this, I feel I have been on my own journey and was in the darkness, the belly of the beast and Campbell's teachings, Mr Young's explaining is a hand that has reached down and pulled me from the darkness. I feel new again. Thank you.
