So basically. You need to buy every colour lure and try them all in whatever conditions 😂. God these tackle companies have got this marketing BS nailed 😅

Sorry to bother you with a newbie question: What size of hook on the jig head goes best with a 7cm slick shad please? Thankyou.

I'm definitely going to need to take a look at those super slick shads - They're all going to work well but the naturals and silvers is what I'll be keeping my eyes out for

Small lures for hitting the schoal I suppose. Bigger for the older beasts?

Normally I love watching Ben’s videos for Fox Rage but I was abit disappointed in him not using his net to land those fish, he wouldnt swing in perch of that size and leave them dangling on a line before unhooking them.

Indeed. I'd be looking to wear an inflatable life jacket around those kind of marks. Look pretty hard to get out of if you accidentally fell in. Some PFDs are pretty unobtrusive nowadays.

Good stuff Ben, love the fact that you emphasize pike welfare. I have two nets on the go every session which makes life a lot easier as a solo piker. Crackin twenty by the way, top angling. I have two nets on the go

Brilliant video 👍, a species hunt, is tricky. Do you target the pike early and hope for that quick bite? Or do you try and get the finniky zeds to play ball, and will the perch even be found 😆 .. ahh, yes, the beautiful quandary that's fishing 💯 Some day's i swear they're down there just laughing at me and comparing leader diameters with their mates 😆

It's surprising how small those perch are taking the 7cm floating baits. Ive been afraid to use 7cm sized baits on the midlands canals because I thought they would be too big.

Great informative video as usual. I’m really struggling with lure fishing on the Trent and Mersey the Caldon and the Macclesfield. Do you think all canals contain a reasonable number of fish or do you think there are areas which are virtually void of fish.

Love watching your videos and you catch some absolutely cracking Fish. … you know your stuff and credit to you, buddy…. Just a quick one if it has been quite cool for awhile and then all of a sudden you get three or four days worth the temperature increases quite a lot in a coloured canal. What do you think would be the best lure that you could use in this situation.? Look forward to hopefully getting a reply and thank you for sharing your amazing videos. Top man 👍😎😁🎣

Thanks for watching, yes Nick has a lot of experience when it comes to canal fishing and loves to pass on his knowledge. A warmer spell can really fire up the perch so you can fish a shad quite fast and search out the likely spots. You can also use crankbaits like the Fox Rage Slick Stick or Salmo Hornet. Hard baits also allow you to quickly search the water and the hits are electric! Early mornings and late evenings can be a really good time for perch as we get into summer. We hope this helps 🙂🎣
