Looks awesome, but do you have an alternative I could use for the Meguiars Scratch X 2.0? Only thing I can find is the regular Scratch X and it got horrible reviews for scratch removal. Also, the Johnson Paste Wax if you can find it is outrageously priced. I recently purchased a S&W 66-1 w/6" pinned barrel in good shape and would love to try and refinish mine. I have purchased everything else and already in over $40 for products you used. Thank you! and you have a new subscriber.
@mr2275curКүн бұрын
Thank you, and thank you again for the sub.. Well, Johnson's no longer makes the Paste Wax, so any that you find will be very expensive. That's unfortunate too, because it's such a versatile and great wax. But most any wax will do just as good of a job. Just make sure its wax without abrasives. I really like Renaissance Wax for my guns too, Turtle Wax Liquid Polishing Compound can be used in place of the Scratch-X 2.0, but it's not as good at clearing up the finish IMO. I know that the $40 you've spent seems like a lot, but you'll be able to do multiple guns from your purchases.

My 586 L comp PERFORMANCE CENTER doesnt work after 20 rounds. Cylinder doesnt turn, trigger malfunction. Spare parts not available...
@mr2275curКүн бұрын
That's terrible. But I think its a minor issue which can probably easily fixed. That fact that it works for 20 rounds is your indication that it's a usage-induced malfunction. Twenty rounds is about enough to heat things up, so I'd look for too tight of a cylinder gap. Or maybe an issue with timing parts interaction.
@InfBerBat143Күн бұрын
@@mr2275cur It didn't work after cooling down either, it was the most expensive gun I've ever bought and I don't expect it to be garbage.
@mr2275curКүн бұрын
@@InfBerBat143 Man I hate to hear that. Have you reached out to S&W Customer Service? Or even a good local gunsmith? It's probably something easily fixable.

@mr2275cur That's not so easy when there's an ocean between me and S&W. I got my money back from the dealer, it wasn't worth waiting a year or so.

I never buy used I only buy brand new. Used is always junk
@mr2275curКүн бұрын
That's great that you only buy new. But once you fire them they are used too. Preowned guns are not junk just because they are used. Only junk is junk. Eighty percent of my collection was used when I bought them and I don't consider them junk. But, opinions vary, and I respect yours.

The current model 66-8 is definitely the best with a full diameter forcing cone and a smaller diameter ejection rod and a different location for the ball detent making it just as robust as the 686. But I do prefer the finish and wooden grips on these older versions. 😎🇦🇺
@mr2275curКүн бұрын
I agree that the modern 66's address the vulnerable points of the earlier models. but they're still built on a K-Frame which makes not as robust as the 686. I don't believe shooting total .357 magnums will be an issue with them though.

@@mr2275cur My brother is a very good gunsmith. He graduated from the Colorado School of Trade. He did a trigger job on my 686-4. It is so smooth! It is absolutely perfect! He put Pachmayr grips on it so it would be more comfortable to shoot. To make a long story short, he lost the original wood grips. Would you know where I could buy a set of original grips for my S&W 686-4, PLEASE? I am an old man now and don't have alot of money so if I can get an original set of grips that I can afford, I sure would appreciate your help. Thank you.

@@lestercoons3962 I know all about being an old man. It has it's challenges. LOL...! Look on eBay. That's where I found a lot of mine. K/L-frame Square butt stocks can be acquired for $100-150. Round butt stocks are much more expensive at $325 and up.

Your number one is exactly what caused me to pursue one like that. About a year ago I bought a 686 no dash Lew Horton, unfired in its original box from the original owner at my LGS. Still to this day I can't believe I was lucky enough to stumble upon it. I was so glad I stopped him and asked what he had in the S&W box.
