I have a video that talks about the way I purchase. If you buy from Buyee (Mizuno Japan Website) the value declared in the process is the price of the goods as in Japan, the value for freight is not considered in the calculation of customs charges. Ebay is different, as you pay the full package (goods+freight) the full value is what the customs consider, hence it gets more expensive and overpasses the customs threshold value.

In the UK it's £135. Yen is low. Hence most of the models can get here below that if purchased from Japan directly. Wave Cup is a different thing, indeed very expensive, hence you will pay for custom charges anyways.

Hello hello my dear! Thank you for sharing your experience and feedback! I’d like to clarify that the Mizuno Morelia Sala Elite TF and the Mizuno Morelia Sala TF Made in Japan are indeed different models, and their fit can vary significantly: - Mizuno Morelia Sala Elite TF: This model has less K-leather material and a less spacious toe box. Many users, as reported across different channels, find it better to stick to their true size or even go half a size up for comfort; - Mizuno Morelia Sala TF Made in Japan: This version features more K-leather material, and the toe box construction is similar to the Mizuno Morelia II M8 Made in Japan. It offers more room in the toe box, making it more suitable for wider feet. For reference, I typically wear a size 8 UK, but I went half a size down (7.5 UK) for the Japanese model and found it comfortable with still a bit of room. If I had tested it in-store, I might have even tried a size 7 UK, as the soleplate width and upper spacing make it very accommodating for wider feet. If you’re considering the Japanese model, I recommend going half a size down. Feel free to share the nominal dimensions of your feet (length and width) and let me know a football boot model and size that fits you perfectly. This will help me give you a more tailored suggestion. Let me know if you need further help! 😊

Hey Michael, many thanks for your comment bud, more than happy to help. I am 8 UK (means 9 US). For the Morelia 2's M8 version (the cross stitched ones) I always go true to size. For the normal classic Morelia's (normal stitching pattern) my advice is to go half size down. My feet, as a reference, are 25.5 to 26 cm long, and 11 cm wide (very wide). Hence, to compensate I have to go 270 Japan Standard for the M8 and 265 for the normal Classic Morelia's. FYI - the M8's stretch is way less than the normal Morelia's.

I don't have experience/know much about the bigger sizes from Mizuno, I'm not sure how they behave in terms of consistency/accuracy to size. Hi man , I am thinking about getting the M8's and getting them converted to SG for muddy UK pitches, but I am wondering if the leather absorbs lots of water and the boots get a lot heavier? Have you used leather Mizunos in rainy/muddy conditions before & able to advise on this? Many thanks
@rodgedefender
@rodgedefender Ай бұрын
Hi Daniel, thanks for your comment, but honestly speaking, in my opinion it will not work. If you're based in the UK and are experiencing the current weather conditions, we can call it "extreme soft ground", hence none of the boots made for FG (even if converted will work) because it's not only a matter of the type of studs, but the configuration of the studs. The best configuration for extremely wet and muddy pitches is the 6 metal studs (the less studs, the less clog), or a boot with anti-clog technology (nike). Yes, I have tried many times using my beautiful morelias in heavy rain, but as soon as the pitches get muddy, the mud and grass get clogged pretty heavily. So, I don't suggest you do such a change because it does not necessarily solve the problem you have. Morelias are good for playing on AG, FG, normal Soft Ground, when it's raining a little bit... But if it's heavy rain and the pitch is very muddy and the grass is detaching easily, forget about it.
@DaniellMilton
@DaniellMilton Ай бұрын
@ Thanks for the reply bro! Yh the UK pitches right now are being killed by the rain 😪 Do you think even using longer studs e.g. 13mm and 15mm in converted M8’s would solve the issue a bit more? Or would you just recommend getting 6 stud boots like the Adidas World Cup?
@rodgedefender
@rodgedefender Ай бұрын
Hi Daniel my dear, Thanks for the follow-up! Let me clarify a bit more about using longer studs and why it may not work as you’re hoping: Why Longer Studs Won’t Solve the Issue Stud Configuration Matters More: The problem with the Morelia's (and most FG boots) in extremely muddy conditions isn’t just the stud length-it’s the proximity of the studs. The studs are too close together, so they trap large chunks of mud and grass, making the boots much heavier and frustrating to play with. Longer Metal Studs Worsen It: Using 13mm or 15mm studs might actually make it worse because the extra length can collect even more mud and grass, amplifying the problem. Why 6-Stud Boots Perform Better Less Studs, Less Clogging: The design of 6-stud SG boots like the Adidas World Cup minimizes mud build-up. With fewer studs spaced farther apart, mud and grass have less surface to cling to, making the boots lighter and more manageable. Adidas World Cup: I use these boots as well, and they’re fantastic for soft grounds with some drainage-wet pitches where the grass and soil are intact but soft. However, on heavily waterlogged pitches where the grass and soil are detaching, even these boots will struggle. My Honest Recommendation Nike Anti-Clog Technology: For extremely muddy conditions, nothing beats anti-clog boots (Nike’s). They prevent mud from sticking to the soleplate entirely, keeping your boots light and distraction-free. I’ve tried everything to make other boots work in these conditions-adding coatings like Teflon or beeswax-but nothing compares to the performance of anti-clog boots. Why It Matters: When your boots stay light and clean, you can focus on the game instead of constantly kicking off mud or struggling with balance. So, if the pitch is flooded and terrible, I’d recommend investing in a pair of anti-clog boots. It’s a game-changer, especially in the UK’s relentless rain and mud. I know how annoying it is to deal with heavy, clogged boots mid-game-it’s a feeling you don’t want to experience! Hope this helps, mate! Let me know if you have any other questions.

@@rodgedefender Thanks again for another detailed response :-) Funny enough I used anti clog phantom GX2 at the weekend and found even that collected quite a bit of mud. My idea for converting M8 to sg was mainly because I already have a lot of ag & fg boots so I wanted to give myself a reason to experience this Mizuno boot also 😆 Thanks for explaining about the stud lengths too - I have always played on artifices pitches so not too familiar with SG boots stud patterns & difference between 6 stud vs “sg pro” style. As you say that would make a good video topic indeed, you could even do some tests on pitch to see the differences perhaps? Cheers

Got a few questions. 1. Did you order them online from Japan? Hard to find in EU. 2. How thick is the leather upper compared to something like Copa Mundial? Thicker thinner? 3. Do the studs offer traction on damp grass? Seems pretty similar to Copas, which i don't like when wet. 4. İs the fit same as Alphas? (Had to go 1.5 euro size down from Nike) Looking for modern leather copas pretty much. Recently grabbed the Diadora Maximus (full padded leather with a modern outsole) and they seem to fit the bill.

Hello hello buddy: 1) Yes, I ordered my boots directly from Japan (via Mizuno Japan website, via Buyee distribution) - I have a full detailed video in my channel about "HOW TO BUY"; 2) As a user of both Copas and Morelias, the Morelias are thinner and better selected premium k-leather - outstanding quality; 3) The studs are conical but some have a thicker base in some areas (not all equal like the Copa's). If the grass is just wet, they will work perfectly well, amazing performance; but if the grass is muddy, those are not the boots for that, grass and mud will get stuck and will be annoying, hence for mud and very wet grass, best option would be something like the Adidas World Cup (excellent btw) or the Morelia 2's for soft ground (SG) with metal studs (versions available on the Mizuno Japanese website); 4) Totally different from the Alphas, completely different animals. The Morelia 2's M8 (cross stitched version) runs true to your average UK size. There's a video in the channel talking about sizes. :) I hope the above answer can be of help!

I have before with my Neos and Betas and the result is always the same... The toe box gets punished! Have you used the M8s on AG (without much damage to the toebox)?
@rodgedefender
@rodgedefender Ай бұрын
Hello hello Kilian my dear, thanks for the question and for watching! You’re absolutely right-the toebox can definitely suffer more wear on artificial ground (AG) surfaces, turf, or any synthetic pitch. The boots are initially designed for firm, natural grass, so using them on AG adds extra stress, especially on the thin kangaroo leather in the toebox. This area is prone to wear (doesn't matter if M8 or the Classic version) because: Material: The kangaroo leather is exceptionally flexible and thin at the front, allowing great touch but also making it more vulnerable to scuffing from the surface and ball contact. Positioning: Being at the front, the toebox constantly makes contact with the ground and ball, which accelerates visible wear. But, like we mentioned, kangaroo leather is incredibly durable, so the wear is mostly cosmetic. In my experience, I’ve never seen actual tears or structural damage-it’s just natural scuffing that builds character over time. Personally, I don’t mind this visual wear; it adds to the boots' aesthetic and attests to their authenticity and usage. If you prefer a pristine look, a leather-friendly touch-up might help with the appearance, though I haven’t tried it myself. Let me know if you decide to go that route, and thanks again for the feedback!
@kilianonline
@kilianonline Ай бұрын
@@rodgedefender I completely agree. So far it's been purely cosmetic. I was lucky enough to catch the Morelia 2 UL in gold. The turf has brushed off the gold on the toe box but there's no structural damage, just more character to my boots (which makes them unique). So I guess the answer is, "Don't sweat it, play and enjoy my good sir". Thanks for sharing your insight. Coconut oil is all I need.

@rodgedefender
@rodgedefender 2 ай бұрын
Thank you for your comment and question. You’ve raised an important point-sizing is rarely straightforward. Here are a few tips: 1. Japanese Sizing vs. Western Sizes Japanese sizes in cm don’t directly translate to Western sizes, especially due to foot width differences. For example, a Japanese 25.0 might feel tight for someone with a 25 cm long foot, particularly on the sides. Tip: Use your standard UK/US/EU size as a reference instead of relying on cm measurements, which won’t match Western foot shapes well. 2. Foot Width and Size With a wider foot (mine is 10.5 cm), I find that going up a bit in UK sizes (to an 8) ensures comfort, even if it leaves a touch of room at the toe. UK 8 is my true size when I buy boots here. 3. Product-Specific Sizing Recommendations Morelia 2 (Cross-Stitched Version): Buy true to your usual UK/US/EU size, as I mentioned in the video. Morelia Classic (Regular Stitching): Go half a size down from your usual boot size for the best fit. Don't use the Japanese sizes as a reference compared to your foot nominal lenght, it won't work. Thanks again for the question-hope this helps! Rodge

@rodgedefender thank you for this very detailed reply. Indeed sizing is not straight forward and people's perception of their "true to size" or "usual sizing" will differ from person to person. Your advise is much appreciated!

Thanks for making this video! I'm currently wearing a size 7.5 US in my Mizuno Alpha, which is a half size down from my normal shoe size (8 US). Should I stick with the same 7.5 US for the Morelia 2?

Hi Tommy, thanks for your question. Before I answer, please let me know: - Do you have wide or narrow feet? - Does your Mizuno Alpha in 7.5 US fit you perfectly? - Which Morelia 2's are you thinking about? The normal one or the cross stitched ones?

Hi Tommy, if you have a foot that is medium but closer to narrow, my suggestion to you is: - Morelia 2 M8 (cross-stitched version), true to size; - Morelia 2 (regular model), half size down.

Is there any reason behind using coconut oil. I read some ads and been using mink oil. Wonder if there's a difference ?
@rodgedefender
@rodgedefender 2 ай бұрын
Hey William, thanks for the question. Mink oil is definitely better. Coconut oil and mink oil differ significantly in composition and their effects on leather. Coconut oil, a plant-based oil, is rich in medium-chain fatty acids like lauric acid, providing light conditioning and antibacterial properties but only moderate penetration into leather. Solid at cooler temperatures and adds a "mild" water resistance, though it may darken lighter materials... In contrast, mink oil, derived from animal fat, contains palmitoleic acid, similar to the oils in animal skins, allowing it to deeply penetrate and soften leather. Mink oil provides superior conditioning and water resistance, making it ideal for heavy-duty use, though it’s typically more expensive and can go rancid if not stored properly. Hence, both are alternatives, coconut oil is more accessible, good and cheaper; if you have access to mink oil, it's the best option.

Initially wanted to get the Mizuno alpha elites but they went of sale from my favourite shop. Should I get this? I want a speed boot
@rodgedefender
@rodgedefender 2 ай бұрын
Hello hello, that's not a straight forward question to answer because: no, they're not a speed boot, but it's so light and the touch is so good that it performs better than other speed boots I had before. Are you more inclined to synthetic materials or genuine leather? Maybe you can think about a Morelia Neo IV (either the beta or the japan one), or else think about the new Morelia 2 M8 cross stitched version, they're amazing.

@rodgedefender
@rodgedefender 2 ай бұрын
Hey buddy, thanks for your question. Morelia 2, no, no heel pain, the heel structure is pretty comfortable and adaptable, actually it's excellent. Morelia Neo 4, the heel area intends to have a tight shape around your heel and for some people yes, it can be a bit uncomfortable during the initial days playing with it; the Morelia Neo 4 for me wasn't comfortable at the sole/mid-arch area (because my feet are a bit flat on the sole area, the arches). Try the Morelia 2's and you won't regret it, they're amazing.

There's no difference in the inside material of both models, they're the same structure and grip. Regarding the "laces pass" observation, your conclusion is correct, the M8 model is a bit below!

@rodgedefender
@rodgedefender 2 ай бұрын
You definitely can cut the tongue off, sure. And that's what people sometimes do after thinking and re-thinking on what to do... it's a dramatic decision. Morelia's tongue is an absolute classic thing and cutting it you can consider it a huge sin. This solution has helped many to avoid cutting it off. If you're a huge fan of Morelia, that's the last thing you should do; either, you can buy a M8 version.

Hey my dear, thanks for your input! I totally get where you're coming from, but I have a bit of a different experience with the Mizuno Morelia 2's. As someone who plays aggressively (I'm a defender, so I'm all about quick position switches, sprints, tackles, playing with fast strikers), I've found the grip to be excellent. So.. In my opinion, the grip isn't just about the stud shape. The overall structure of the boot plays a big part in this. The lockdown provided by the upper, laces, and heel area creates a firm, stable feel that translates to solid traction on the ground. I’ve used them on artificial grass, firm ground, and even soft ground, and they’ve consistently performed better than any other boots I’ve owned. For me, the Morelia 2s offers a blend of comfort and stability that enhances ground grip, not just from the studs but from how the entire boot fits and supports the foot. I'd definitely recommend giving them a try - it’s one of those boots you need to experience to fully appreciate!
